It's pretty much certain they'll be extinct one day; when you reach a population that low level, the genes are so homogeneous due to the small gene pool that even if they do come back they'll all be susceptible to genetic disorders. It'd be like trying to repopulate the human species based on your high school graduating class or something. |

One of twin Giant Panda cubs - the first to be delivered this year at a panda protection centre in China - is placed in an incubator. I don't think it is the very first panda to be born in the entire world this year, it probably just means from that specicific panda protection centre. Also, it says first Giant Panda which is probably a subclass of Panda. |
