Just look at the portfolio page. It`s filled with musicians. Why?

Because making music is fun, and because all the other game dev related crafts suck.. obviously! Beer! Would be fun to see more graphics/programming/other related posts in there though, definitely.

Too many? In what sense? Yes, there seem to be more people offering their music skills than other things. But I don't see that there's too many. I mean, I've posted to offer my services on 2 different indie forums, and been contacted within a day at both of them, so there's surely demand there.

As long as the musicians are capable and people need musicians, I don't see the problem with giving people as much choice as possible.

Probably because music involvement doesn't last the duration of the project usually, so they are less committed for each project and can be advertising their skills again soon or working on multiple projects. That's my guess at least.
