Sorry if I posted in the wrong place. No idea where I should.

Hey I'm very new to making my own games, but am trying to get better at it none the less. My biggest problem though is I can not draw my own characters or backgrounds to save my life. So I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to solve this problem as I'm sure I can't be the only one with it.

Maybe an Unpaid Collaboration is what you look for? The Assemblee: Part 1 forum also harbours much art treasures.

Before you find an artist, I guess an Graphic Tablet can help you creating better placeholder art. Mine is not too pretty, but at least it keeps me going when my artist doesn't have time to spare.

Best advice: Draw lots.

This way, you'll get better.

I'm gonna agree on both of these posts; if you want to focus on your programming, finding an artist to help you or just using the Assemblee contest artworks are your best chances. If you want to be able to do your own art, well, draw lots.

www.deviantart.com

has a lot of suprisingly intresting stock stuff which i get a lot of mystuff-even though i do actually draw as well. But then agian i like to use photos a lot in my work.  Some of the photos there are actually amazing works of art in a kind of conceptual sence.

And before you tell me that this is stupid and amaturerish i got the idea from someone whose work is in the Met musuem in new york.

I'm fairly certain outright thievery is frowned upon by DA peoples.  Shrug

I think you misunderstand Smithy--a lot of DA people put up stock photos for the explicit intention that other people use them for stuff.  Dunno what the rules are on giving credit or anything though.
