Re: tutorial
I have humored the posibility that the player can skip the tutorial by performing advanced moves or whatever. if there is a grappling hook that hasnt been explained yet and you are about to get into the how to shoot tutorial, maybe a place where thr grappling hook can be shot (assuming it is an davanced move ofc) and then going around the shooting tutorial, the environment reacts
going from "ok commander, lets get ready to shoot some russians inside this building" to "oh, good thinking commander, approaching from the roof and taking these russians by surprise!".
terrible example, but give was for the player to escape or subvert the tutorial zone.

It’s been a pretty good time for fan games. We’ve had a full scale remake of Metroid 2 and an amazing tribute to Sonic the Hedgehog. Only one of these games has been taken down by corporate forces. Last week, the Game Grumps played Green Hill Paradise Act 2. Sega noticed. And gave a big thumbs up. Instead of rallying lawyers or striking the Game Grumps and Green Hill Paradise Act 2's team with a copyright claim under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, official Sega social media outreach actively encouraged fans to make more games and content.
On the other side of this coin is Nintendo. They took down Metroid 2 remake AM2R, were hitting enough download sites that the creators of Pokemon Uranium felt they needed to take their game down, placed a strike against the fan mash up No Mario’s Sky and even removed hundreds of fan titles from Game Jolt. Now, the Game Jolt matter was a bit fraught. The site was making advertisement revenue while hosting those particular games. Still, the difference is night and day when it comes to fan games overall. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1277439"Doesn't Sega know they have to defend their IP? They could lose the rights to Sonic any day now!"

haha sega literally does what nintendon't.
of course it's a PR move, but if the net outcome is positive for fan games, then im happy.

every decision sega's made lately is honestly an incredibly good one. and sure, this might be pr (i mean, technically, literally any social media outreach from the sonic social team is literally a 'pr move') but it's honest pr; this isn't out of character for 'em, especially re: sonic games; there's a reason the sonic fan games community is so fucking huge. the only time i can recall a DMCA from sega is against SORR, and i mean, wellhell, sonic fan games hq is where i got my start with internet communities AND game development/game design theory. i wouldn't exist as me if sega had been a shitlord re: fangame stuff. a lot of my early freeware experiences were fangames. that shit is valuable to me. there's still some sonic fan games i'd recommend to people as a human adult with current-me tastes, and there's been at least one person who's made games like that who i've since somehow made friends with and worked closely with later on. this is the right way to do things, honestly.

(in response to the video about marvel music)
Neat.
Weirdly enough, I do remember the theme from the first avengers movie, so there's still some hope I think.

Man, it's refreshing to be on a forum again. (Not Reddit). Brings back memories of my Warcraft 3 days.
I've been on a rut lately. Even as a full time game dev. Seeing what the project threads here accomplish got me riled up again.

I am thinking this should be mandatory viewing for anyone thinking about making a game:
I felt it was a really good video, a lot of things in it you don't see discussed very often.
