hmm yeah i dont quite know what you mean, anyone else think that? i tried softening the angle at the top of the fez which may be an improvement, what do you think? Uploaded with ImageShack.usI had a similar issue. Quickly scanning through the thread, I actually though the image had a problem loading because it looked cut off. I think the top of the hat is too perfect (it's completely straight), so it reads funny. Maybe it needs some perspective?

I think it's the near-tangent with the tip of the horn that is causing the problem.

That's a lovely explosion, but it doesn't really fit the style of the ship. Either the ship should be more realistic or the explosion should be more cartoony.

@ClayB - I'm seeing not just a house, but rather some sort of squid tree monster with a house for a head / hat. See the 'eyes' underneath the door? Anyway, it's really well rendered!

It looks just right in the game. If you wish you can take a look when I publish the demo. i think it works fine in a metal slug kinda way

Here's an animation I've made for my WIP game for #GPCv16: I'm proud of how it looks, it's basically my first pixel art work, so I'm happy with the result Now let's see if I make a game with it, a few days left Edit: you can try it here (not much to do there though...)
