Hey guys!

I'm an indie dev from Dublin, Ireland.

My gaming days started on an Atari ST, was practicaly glued to it for the late 80's/early 90s. Rainbow Islands was one of my all time favourites on it and Dungeon Master.

Soooo, now many a year later, i'm making games by night and working in animation Ninja by day. I'm pretty new to game dev (bout a year and a half into it) after doing a college course in it, so lots to learn for me :-)

Hi folks! I'm Mason.  My bio is like many of yours, but I'm gonna type it all out anyway.

First a big thanks to everyone who came before me, even lurking this forum is a great source of motivation and inspiration!

The first system I really went crack crazy gaming on was an Amiga 500.  Zak McKracken, Dungeon Master (yayyy userXDev, my zo-kath-ra frat brother) and Ultima IV occupied all the time I didn't spend swimming or shooting BBs as a kid.  I pored over every Jumpdisk I could find for freebies and demos.  Then my family got a NES and my fate was sealed.

Motivated by the desire to make a game, I started fumbling with AmigaBASIC and caught the coding bug for life.  20 years later I'm still praying at that altar and it's given me everything.  However, I still haven't released a game despite kicking around tons of ideas and making proof-of-concept type things.  As a teen I developed an unhealthy obsession with savagely optimized 3D demos in ill-suited languages like QuickBasic, but I'm better now.

Oh yeah, I also hung around GDR/Pixelation a lot and had a stint as a contract pixelist in the early 00s, worked on some small-time GBA/dumbphone stuff, then went to art school for a few years before I realized that I find producing art for someone else to be a creativity-draining hell Shrug I can code at work all day long, come home and start hobby coding without missing a beat; not so with art.

My latest project has miraculously survived a year of semi-casual design/prototyping and, at the risk of jinxing it, I'm ready to get serious about it!  Once I can show more of it in actual motion I will start a log.

Ah. there it is.

Hello world, greetings from Poland.

I generally draw and compose music, though I am aiming to create a shoot 'em up game one day.
Someday.

But yeah! Self-taught on how to make music on FL Studio and it sort of stayed up to this day.

Hi, I'm Marcus, from Angus, Scotland. I've been into programming since my first ZX81, err that would be 1981, which is a long time ago xD

I've worked on some small games, nothing that's left a mark on the world; and some larger web applications including a United Nations media project. Most of my work has been web front-end, with DB driven back-end; usually on *nix servers, with PHP/MySQL. I'm pretty reasonable with HTML/JS too, and now I'm moving towards mobile apps.

I'm also a lighting engineer for mobile stages, which has very little to do with programming, other than setting up DMX fixtures and fittings.

I look like this at music festivals...

Hi there,

i come from Croatia. I actually started with ZX48K when i was 7 Smiley. Among making demos, i actually published PC GAME The Ward in 2001, when i exited PC business until 3 months ago when i started working on our new indie title, Warlords RTS: Clash of Thrones.

Among games i liked a lot in past 20 years, for sure i would put Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy, Elite, Sensible Soccer, Doom, Secret of Monkey Island, Warcraft, Fallout, Starcraft...

And i used to play MUDs a lot Smiley.

Hi everybody.

I’m a game developer and mostly self-taught programmer, designer, and artist, I’ve been programming and making games as a hobby for about a decade, and I’m now making my first commercial indie game. I mostly play RTS games and fantasy RPGs, but I’m most passionate about RTS games, ever since the original Command and Conquer I’ve been hooked on the genre. My first big attempt at indie development that I’m currently working on, is a space RTS called Empyrean Frontier. (http://www.indiedb.com/games/empyrean-frontier)

Hello hello.

Probably about time I introduced myself. My name is Joe, and I'm a Sound Designer and Composer. I run an independent studio called Boneyard Audio, where I make sound effects and soundtracks for games.

I first got into gaming when my friend got a SNES (we were about five). Something about the colourful and detailed graphics of Donkey Kong Country and Mario Allstars gripped me, and the DKC series still remains one of my favourites to this day. In particular, the soundtrack of Donkey Kong Country 2 has influenced me in a big way.

I've lurked on TIGSource for a while, and finally decided it was about time to get more involved. I started another thread recently outlining some of my work, which you can see here http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=31216.0

Feedback of any kind is much appreciated. More info can be found on my website www.boneyardaudio.com.

Cheers, have a good day.

Hey hey everyone!

My names Mark aka GamerTurnp. I'm 27 from the UK/England/Didcot and I'm a huge fan of Indie games in general and just love playing anything that's out of mainstream.

I've played many Indie games without thought of the amount of work that actually goes into them and that's why I'm here! To snoop around and learn about the different stages of making an Indie game.

I also have a YouTube channel which I've recently become a LOT more interested in. I basically want to to brief overviews of games that are out of mainstream and get them noticed so they can enjoy them as much as I do. I won't link it or anything as I don't want you guys thinking I'm here just for the advertising. If interested though please don't hesitate to contact me and I'll put a video up for you.

So what's the best way to learn what you great people do Smiley

Hey folks!

My name's Daniel, long time lurker, first time poster. I'm and 21 from sunny Scotland. I enjoy such things as long walks on the beach, and playing my harmonica in front of the waves...

I've been into the indie community for a while now, and recently signed up to Onegameamonth. So I thought now would be a good time to get a bit more involved in the community!

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

My name is Jonathan Vigurs, I go by Johnny and my current title is Creative Director of my little company Infinite Playground.

Like most of us games have been a part of my life pretty much from day one. My dad is a computer scientist and the house was always filled with various home computer systems and many, many games!

I took to crudely replicating pixel art using coloured pencils and at around eleven years old I made my first game with huge amounts of help from my dad. It was called Dangers!, written in AMOS and played on our Amiga 600. Since then game design has been a constant part of my life.

After graduating and a few years of freelance I decided I wanted to be something more, so here I am!

I can often be found at community and industry events around the UK ranging from Explay to Develop Brighton.

At the moment I'm doing what I can to help out some students while trying to get our first game out for Android devices and working away to get our second on Steam.

I hope to get to know lots of other developers on here! I have veeeery little experience of funding and publishing and lots of questions so you'll be seeing me stalking around the forums quite regularly!

Hi!

My name is Chen-Po and I was previously a programmer at Firelight Technologies (we made FMOD). Now, along with doing freelance/contract work, I'm making games with my wife.

Gizmodo recently did an interview with us about working on games as a couple:

I am EDDnorris, I have been a making games since graduating from Full Sail in 2007.

I worked on Iron Chef America : Supreme Cuisine, for the Nintendo Wii, as a Gameplay Programmer and Lead Programmer; but had nothing to do with the design.

I also worked on Family Fun Football, again for the Nintendo Wii, and mainly worked on game rules and animation handling for player interactions; but this time, I was more involved with the design of gameplay for how player interactions were handled.

Around this same time, I started working on my own game designs; I had always had idea's for games but this was the first time after college I had the down time to actually put time into developing them.

After that, I started working in the Casino Gaming industry and programming front end UI experiences for casino style/slot machine games; as well as a fair bit of math and backend programming working in the systems they had already setup.

While working there, because they allowed for a consistent 9-5 work schedule, I began working towards making a releasable game with a friend from college who had been laid off the year before. We spent some time writing an engine of my own but started using Shiva3D and worked with it for over a year.

He moved in and began working full time with me but things didn't work out between him and I; primarily because he didn't have any money to survive off of and I was feeding/housing/cleaning up after him. I realized I wasn't impressed with the game concept after he quit working on the game and moved out. I toiled around with the idea of releasing the game but dropped it altogether when I began working in Unity3D.

I began working on a Top-Down Turned based game for a short while but after working on a game for MolyJam, I switched efforts and have been working on turning a game loosely based on that Game Jam game into a commercial release.

Last June I decided I liked the game enough to work on it full time and wanted to try to make something of a career out of it. I quit my paid job and started 2bitENT with another friend from college. He decided to take a paid job shortly after and quit leaving me at the sole proprietor and only developer. With much less start up money, because he took his with him, I forge ahead and I'm happy to report that I'm nearing my first public alpha release now Smiley

I've been on TIG and passively lurking for a while but am trying to be more social with my fellow Dev's as of late Smiley Hello World.  Coffee

Aalreet nerds and whatnot
Hello all, I trust I find you well?

BIO - I'm David "oodavid" King from Newcastle, UK - I have an odd accent and my brain leeks a bit. Onto the internet. Sometime freelance and startup programmer, I now work for a large industrial company heading up their technological offerings.

I used to write games as a kid under the moniker "oopstudios" but those days seem a long time ago, I learned a lot and am now looking to stoke that fire and start tinkering again.

Photo taken at a conference a week after I chopped off my dreadlocks.
I don't look like a weirdo anymore... yeah right, I look like a divvie! Hawhaw.

Step 1 - Join some gamers forums
Step 2 - Make a game or 2
Step 3 - Win at life

Step 3 is pretty moot as I'm happy already. Well, isn't that nice, only 1 step left!

Wow!!  I must say I am impressed, nay amazed at the energy and ENORMITY of this community!  I feel like a country bumpkin who just stumbled into downtown. :-)  My name is Chris Calef, CTO of BrokeAss Games, which is primarily based in Willits, CA though I live in Eugene, Oregon.  (USA)

I'm a C++ coder who started in the industry with Garage Games back in 2002 or so.  I've been on my own with BAG since about 2006.  I have a degree in Geography and am self taught in game coding.

For the past four years or so I have been building a motion creation and editing environment called Ecstasy Motion.  It is built on Torque 3D (which just went MIT open source a few months ago btw.)

Ecstasy is basically an indie stab at providing the kind of functionality offered by industry standards like Endorphin and Massive, but at a price point under $200.  (Currently, we're still in "Early Adopter" mode, meaning you put up with a few bugs but it's only $149.)

We're using game techniques like navmeshes and behavior tree AI, plus ragdoll physics and things like joint motor drives, etc. to create multi-actor scenes that can be exported into BVH or FBX and used in games or film projects.

Today I'm very excited to announce that for the first time, we finally actually have a 30 day trial version to offer - it only runs in windows, and it requires physx, but you can get an idea how the program works anyway.

If you're interested, check out my blog at garage games: www.garagegames.com/community/blogs/view/22148 for links and more information.

Thanks for being such a great community!  Indies unite!!  Cheesy
