Nope. Hostel. As in cheap and surprisingly decent hotel alternative.

But if you're at the hostel, the cops may come and take you away. You're paying the hotel more money to keep the cops off your back. Conspiracy!

Oh... I actually Googled "Hostel" and saw that they're, in fact, for lodging.
Me envisioning you threatening people to lodge in their houses/apartments was kind of funny though. I thought it was an intentional misspelling of "hostile."

Where are you staying at? I stayed at the Adelaide hostel last year and booked again for this year. $20/night for a bed (all I need) and shower is fine by me! Maybe someone made the mistake with "brothel" and "hostel"? I know I did the first time I heard the word.

Hostel International downtown. Booked to the brim with indies, $30 a night for a bed in a four-man room, provided breakfast of bagels, toast and orange juice, and decent facilities. It's an old, classy sort of building. I can't imagine staying anywhere else.
Can't have visitors, though, except in the lobby. :\

I will be on that guestlist, so at least 18 confirmed names.
Just a reminder, remember to have some up-to-date ID, especially if you're going for a hostel room. I had a multiple-months expired state ID once; the night manager wanted to be lenient at first, but upon seeing the actual date decided it was too far over the line, so I ended up having to pay for a hotel instead.

Scott and I, from Howling Moon Software, will be at GDC- our flight comes in on Tuesday, but we'll try to make at least the tail end of the meetup!

I'm going to tag along with Evan in the hopes that there's enough room to squeeze in. I'm skinny and take up a surprisingly small amount of library room real estate, fyi. Also, I'm bringing shark stickers.

Hi there! This is my first post, but I'm a local SF indie game developer who'll be going to GDC and I'd love to attend the SFPL meetup if that's still possible. Who should I send my contact info to? I'm planning to go to the Rapid-Fire Indies talk, so I'd be coming with the second wave of people.

No need to RSVP, just show up (outside Moscone North) in time to leave with the 4:30 group or the 5:30 group.

I'm a little concerned with the overflow at this point, since the room limits at 15 people and it looks like we're already beyond that number. I really don't want to test the rules seeing that this thing is registered in my name. If we can keep the absolute limit to 20, that means 5 people will have to wait outside the room somewhere, which doesn't seem like it would really be much fun but I guess we could rotate who's in the room. The other thing is that we're going to have to keep the noise to a low volume inside the room, so it should go without saying that the group outside of the room will also have to be courteous.

Okay, it's going on. I didn't make it back to shepherd the 5:30 group and Ted Martens is doing so. If anyone else wants to come feel free to find your way over -- the library closes at 8 PM.

Ditto! I am sure there were some people I didn't get to meet due to the smell in "the abyss." I want to personally thank everyone I talked to and/or who gave me their card/sticker/whatever. Since I am new here, I hope this place will be a continued source of inspiration, hope, talent and support if I ever find myself down in the dumps again. I saw something (someone?) fun at GDC today that gave me inspiration for a game. Things are starting to feel awesome again. Once again, thank you all.
