Here is a first attempt to create checkpoint The main difficulty is to reinit some states in the world if the player die in the middle of an important event (boss fight etc...). Two important rules to keep in mind : 1) player can't die in a checkpoint room 2) each checkpoint came with a reinit script for sounds/music/light/events

Hi Alwex! We know each other from the Moonman forums, I'm the guy who also uses libgdx & box2dlights. I'm now here on TIGForums too I can't wait to play your game! The graphics are so beautiful, I really like your retro pixel art. When I see your screenshots, I always feel reminded of good old games - how I have them in my mind - to be honest they never looked that good in reality

Interesting style here! Will definitely want to try the demo. That said, does the checkpoint doesn't have any marker/specific item to show you can save? Or maybe you will create one room for saving purpose? Just like in Castlevania series?

@gereon nice to see you here and welcome to TIGForums !
@turnA, @ernanir, you both are definitely right, I will remove this big text stuff (it was for debug purpose) and perhaps a little totem that light up to show you that the checkpoint is active would be better. A room can be very interesting to, allowing to create a safe place where the player can rest. Perhaps a room with a marker can be great. Thank you for the idea.

This checkpoint-room can be a key point to tell a bit about the story. Choose the elements of it wisely.

@ernanir and I have a lot of secret background stories that will be revealed as the player goes through the game. I have made a little video to show the ambiance of the cave I am working on the game seems slow because my laptop is not able to make it run a full speed while recording the video. enjoy

I love the effect when he goes behind the waterfall. Very unique. The controls feels a bit floaty don't you think?

@ernanir, I think it feel floaty because of the speed. The game was run at 30 fps instead of 60 while recording the video. I'll try to make another one on a more pwerful PC.

Already looking very nice! Full of atmosphere and the water shader is awesome. You should replace the text with your cool logo.

Will the drops fall in the water and cause ripples? I mean, I'm pretty sure there's been fast approximation hacks for that since the late nineties.

Sounds like a good idea, for the moment it does not produce ripples, there is just some drop animation on the floor. I will see if it is not too complicated to create this effect.
