http://www.dotabuff.com/heroes/storm-spirit/trendsThis made me laugh. (Team EG won the recent Dota Asia Championships, and a young player called Sumai1l kept making plays with Storm Spirit, very popular)

Over the past few months I've been trying to take my ranked games pretty seriously, I'm really happy to finally reach my personal goal MMR :D

It's amazeballs (and weird, some stuff seems overpowered at first glance). All the buffs to supports make me happy. And that little wanker finally got nerfed

I haven't played at all during the last months, so I missed all the Sniper pickage. What was the deal? Did people finally start maxing Shrapnel? Was he a mid or a safelane carry? Did people push with his Shrapnel tower damage and end early or take it late and build him as a carry? I NEED ANSWERS... HO HO HA HA!
Also, can't wait for that patch. Time to dust off my beloved Tusk. Funnest hero in the game got even funner.

Can you imagine trying to take down a Bristleback with the new Octarine Core (-25% spell cooldowns, spell lifesteal)? This is really going to shake things up for AoE casters.
My favorite patchnote though is how Alchemist can give scepter bonuses to other heroes. It feels like the natural progression of his ultra-farming playstyle. Now he can just keep farming, except after a while he starts giving away the items.

Why cant these changes come in dribs and drabs like they used to? I would have really appreciated a new item or spell change every week or so over the last 6 months (or however long we have been stuck in the current boring ass meta) Why must they dump it all in one big load? It's the fastest way totally break the overall balance of the game. They already did this once recently with the first 'gold-difference' update, it's a really horrible experience

I love the way in which Lol presents their patch notes so much more than Dota. They have a clear explanation of what they changed every two weeks or so, with reasoning behind the changes and terrible puns from Phreak.
Dota is just like "Hey guys look at what I did".

IceFrog is just as bad at communicating with his fans as Valve is. They really are a perfect match for each other.

Mittens makes a good point, I too preferred it before when the updates were a constant.
@battlerager - Every game has sniper, troll or both. I'm not up to speed why troll exactly, but Sniper's shrapnel got really good. A huge aoe vision, with significant slow and you can dish out several of them at once destroying all the blink daggers; very few heroes could easily reach him and punish him. And (in pub at least) he's good everywhere, mid, safelane, offlane.

I was thinking about trying this game out again, I used to play (as my first moba) but got overwhelmed fast and moved to LOL and Infinite Crisis. Do you guys still recommend it? Last time I played was when they added the 'gold rune' or whatever, and made runes appear on both sides of the river.

I meant more if people here still play it and recommend it. Either way i'm probably going to give it another shot today.
