Me and pavethem finally released qb, a free 3d puzzle game for android, windows, mac and linux. The game was a student project we did this semester. It's even kind of open source (check out github).

Tell us what you think! Smiley

Description: Guide the sphere to the exit. Only a block can stop it once the sphere moves. So use the blocks wisely to reach the exit. But it won't be as easy as that! Portals, switches and even movable blocks will challenge your brain. The game features 24 mind-bending levels along with local highscores and a time attack mode. Create your own levels with the ingame editor. Enjoy the 3d graphics and a soundtrack written by bitbof.

First, I'd like to share some advise. It is good to introduce yourself in the intro thread and to read Feedback Forum Guidelines. Also, the more you explore TIGForums, get involved, and provide feedback on other games, the more likely you'll been taken more seriously and receive more feedback.

As for the game, I tried the Windows version, and the multiplatform release is a plus. I liked the simple visuals, since they fit my tastes and work well with viewing from different angles. I liked your choice of music (it would be nice to have a link to the musician). Also, the tutorial was helpful, but using "today we will..." in the text didn't seem like the best choice.

I wish there was an option to reverse the rotation control, since I feel it more natural for a cube to rotate in the direction I'm moving it. The versed-axis control felt awkward.

Whatever you're doing with the graphics settings in Java is being very friendly with Firefox running in the background. I had to keep restarting my browser after exiting the game to get it to display properly. It was also a big turn-off.

Good luck with refining qb.

This seems very similar to the hacking mini-game in Bionic Commando Rearmed:

Thanks ithamore for the feedback! The music is from bitbof (http://bitbof.com/).
The controls are a problem we didn't get right. If you spin the cube >180° the controls invert. I have no idea how to stop this...

Yes jkd, the mini game in bionic commando was one of our main inspirations.

Echoing ithamore's thoughts on the style and the controls. I really liked the glowing red-on-black. Very Virtual Boy!

Some more feedback:

- There's a little bit of texture bleed in the font. I can see the edges of other letters in some of the glyphs. It also looks scaled up, using a larger font would make it look more crisp.

- Would you consider not requiring the mouse button to be down to rotate the level? So instead of clicking and dragging I can just mouse around. I'd also prefer if the sensitivity was higher. Perhaps these could be options? Right now I spend the majority of my time just trying to get the camera angle right.

Good luck with the game!
