Maybe there can be a Spelunka (female Spelunky) that you can choose to play as, where you can save damsmen in distress?

Why do you suggest that the name of the female Spelunky should end with -a? That's sexist!

Spelunky privileges the use of force to move the character according to rigid rules. In opposition to the feminine notion of going with the flow.
Typical heterosexist nonsense.

I'm also familiar with the feeling of misrepresentation/under-representation. I don't think I know you well enough to make an ironic Asian joke. But I will say I thought of one.

Okay, I've never been able to get the hang of Spelunky, but yesterday I sat down, spent some time, and finally managed to get somewhere. (well level 5 or something, but I'll get that shortcut!)
I've always thought it was great, but playing it myself really shows it is. love all the new things you discover, the harshness, but also the ease of playing again. Doing real good and then being eaten by a giant spider is FUN! I also love how I don't understand some of the items but I'm sure I will.
Now for some feedback: the pots spawning enemies seem unfair when you stand on them while whipping. You kill the enemy but still get damaged. I would LOVE to be able to fall down a rope and start climbing with down, now I first need to press up then down. Seems a bit weird to me.
But this is the best. Thanks for the fun and I'll get that xbox version for sure! <3

Maybe there can be a Spelunka (female Spelunky) that you can choose to play as, where you can save damsmen in distress? Yeah, I second that. We want an unlockable Lilly Croft. I've been playing a lot of Spelunky this summer and I'm still having a lot of fun with It, but I was wondering ¿where does the game store save data? Is there a way I can keep and transport a savegame without copying the entire game folder?

From what I've heard, it uses Game Maker's built-in highscores save feature, which saves to the registry (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Game Maker\Scores, to be exact).

Hey, thanks iffi. I see. In that case, I better not mess with my registry.

"Games in which women are purely helpless objects are not played by females because the message cannot be subverted." -Perils of the Princess: Gender and Genre in Video Games, Sharon R. Sherman
(I don't fully buy it, and it's not backed up by hard data, but it does have a certain ring of truth nonetheless)
Also, I hope you're getting on well with spelunkywork, Derek : )

Just wanted to say that my friend was (is?) making a Cave Story mod for Spelunky... which is fitting, I guess. It's just a simple sprite change, with the exception of the inclusion of the Polar Star.
Here's hoping he finishes it. It'll be a fun five minutes.

Those. Look. Amazing. "!". Practically Aquaria-level of detail, which makes me curious about how well they're animated. Also, this makes me want to play some more already!

the cash counter part of the hud seems pretty damn intrusive but otherwise this is looking all too sexy.

No? You can see so many new enemies and characters. Not to mention the tiles and backgrounds. Looking awesome Derek!
