I saw your post on reddit and immediately had to come here to tell you how much I LOVE the progression of this project. The new character models are outstanding, I'm officially adding this project to my watchlist. Keep it up man!

Appreciate the compliments, guys.

That is indeed me, John. Those sideburns are my pride and joy

It took a bit, Chis:

So I've just had an idea concerning the Heavy Attacks: Instead of having a single one for each combatant, I'll have a number of equippable ones.

Say that you start out with a Zelda-style spin attack. At some point, you acquire a charging thrust and deign to use that instead. But then, later on, you get a jumping shockwave attack, but still prefer to use the thrust, since it feels better for you. Stuff like that.

Sounds like a good equipment / attack mechanic, and the model's looking really cool, too. Nice work!

Your 3D models are impressive. You must have a ton of experience cause that stuff is sharp. Nicely done

I think the detail of the foliage clashes with the relative simplicity of the rest of the style you've established, and looks a bit noisy and too high-contrast in general.

I see what you mean, yeah. Perhaps something like Skyward Sword's leaves?

Finished a character:

She exterminates these things called Fells; cursed spirits that are formed from grudges and general negative emotions. you could probably think of them like a combination of Poes and Hollows.

When they're weakened enough, she uses these exorcism seals to force their essence out of whatever they were inhabiting, and then summons Wayfarers with her staff to guide said essence to the afterlife

Nice characters!

Maybe, you should pay more attention to the actual construction of their weapons. I am not an expert, but some things look wierd:

It looks like Gil's axe will break at the first hit, if you try to use it, it is very strangely designed overall. Argyl's weapon is.. I cannot understand what it really is, honestly. Ellie's shield, probably needs a handle, so she can hold it with her left hand.

I am not trying to be rude. But I believe that good characters make even an average story shine. So, we should strive to make them belivable. Think of them as if they were real people, your friends or enemies.. Also, look at the picture of Link you posted.

Don't be discouraged, you are doing great job Roll Eyes

@koiwai: to me it seems that Angryl's weapon is a street lantern

but I agree the weapon design could use some rework

Aye, it's a bit hard to see from that angle:

Also, this guy:

And is the practicality of the designs really that much of a concern when the world is so heavily stylized?

I think, practicality is a plus, even though it is not necessary of course. That weapon looks epic.
