Love the look you've got going so far, you've clearly really thought it out. Find an awesome programmer quick!

Glad to hear you like how it looks. I'm the programmer by the way, cosec is the artist/main designer.

This is something that I posted in another thread a few days ago but I figured I should put it up here too.

I did some experimenting with normal mapping the ships. The first image is the original diffuse textured ship, the second image is the pixel shader output with a -1 +1 space normal map and the final is the diffuse blended with the pixel shader lighting output.

While it looks cool I'm not sure if it fits with the style of the game, or the fact that since the game takes place in the sky most of the scenes are fullbright or flat lit overcast.

I'd really like it if the wood panels had way less contrast in them.

yeah I like the flat look and agree, but I think you should maybe investigate using the normal maps for showing subtle highlights/heat from explosions on ships, it could look really nice and dramatic, maybe it could be stylized so it is only ever adding a certain range of colors that work well with the art.. (and not just looking like the typical glossy plastic normal mapping)

this games lookin really great  Hand Thumbs Up Right

That explosion idea is really cool, definitely going to try that out.

Having given this game a couple go's I can personally attest to it's awesomeness. Looking forward to seeing the final build and sitting down with it. Also: that GIANT dark grey castle looking ship thing is the bee's knees. Straight up.

Yup, the logo is a placeholder Smiley We haven't found a suitable name for the game yet. When we do find one I'll make a cooler logo. Oh and we are definitely open to suggestions.

Looks neat, I love "vehicle building" games or whatever you call them. Graphics remind me of Patchwork Heroes, was that an inspiration?  Wink

With a quick Google search, these appear to be the exact same game.

It was indeed. I believe Patchwork Heroes is the North American title of 100-Man Ton No Bara Bara.

Still tweaking particles...

Also working on projectiles now, and experimenting with goshkis idea to add a level of randomness to the projectiles. So far it's working out pretty well.

This looks very cool.  From the original concepts/screenshots it seems like there's some sort of editor?  I really like the idea that you could organically build up your fortress through an editor.

Looking forward to playing it!
