I don't know what tfw stands for properly, I just know how it's used and when to use it. Which is... says a lot about language probably maybe.
Sort of like how I started using "so'p" facetiously when I saw it mentioned in as an unatested-but-possible word in a research paper on the origins of yep, nope, and welp. The proper grammar for so'p just kind of /emerged/ to me.
It means "that feeling when" and its some kind of reddit slang or sth lol

mfw = my face when tfw = that feel when
They both originate from the chans I'm pretty sure. One of them is a reference to the "reaction images" that people tend to post on imageboards, while the other is related to the "feel" meme (as in, "I know that feel").

Knytt Underground is really fun. The first two chapters are short, linear and misleading - the third chapter is a sprawling non-linear labyrinth that feels a lot like the first game, but with slightly more difficulty from platforming and evading monsters.
It has a lot of hidden content, and stands out in that you can complete it normally and not get any achievements at all. The achievements all require effort to get, which is nice. I understand at least a third of the rooms in the game are hidden, which seems about right. And by that I mean rooms that don't appear on the map at all - just covering the whole map is barely half the content of the game.
The dialogue is slightly offputting, since one of the two NPCs that follow you around is very vulgar. Nifflas self-inserts several times, and his dialogue seems to be intentionally annoying (even the NPCs complain about his statements). On the other hand, there's some interesting dialogue along the way including a lot of sidequests that only reward you with silly exchanges or reveal backstory of the characters. The game also fools around with expectations and has a lot of sidequests that end abruptly with no reward or conclusion, like one where you're asked to rescue a lost girl, only to find she's already gone home by the time you get to where she disappeared. Other quests set you up for disappointment like expecting to get cheated only to result in unexpected success. One 'mechanic' is you have to choose which NPC you have talk during each conversation (your protagonist is mute), and I understand quests change a little depending on which you pick, though you never get any quest more complicated than finding an object and going to an NPC to deliver it.
It's vaguely a collect-a-thon where the world is scattered with coins, glyphs, flowers and things like that which you can trade to NPCs to complete the main quest. The game gives you a lot of freedom, though, since you never need all the items of one type, and NPCs always accept coins in place of the items they want. In the end, though, you don't need to collect any of the objects because there are secret passages that make them unnecessary (which you will never discover on accident)
It the end it's a good choice if you liked the original Knytt and (not or) Within a Deep Forest, since it has Knytt's exploration plus WaDF's platforming action / puzzles.

Friend of mine started playing Suikoden 2 for the first time (I am intensely jealous) so I decided to reinstall it and try for a 100% complete run. Obviously following a guide considering some of the stuff you need for a perfect run is crazy difficult to find.
I absolutely adore the Suikoden games and I still think Suikoden 2 is probably the best RPG on the Playstation. The political intrigue and intricately connected timeline are probably the most defining aspects of the series.
One thing that stands out to me in the Suikoden games is how they experiment with scale and feature conflicts between single individuals as well as entire armies. The duel-battle-war trinity is something I wish I would see explored further in RPGs in general (as far as I know Suikoden is the only series that has done it).

ive gone to disciples 2 and im not coming back
also disciples 2 steam store page has screenshots from 2000s presskit and unreleased alpha build, complete with placeholder art and different graphics. I know that Strategy first is a zombie publisher, but hows that even possible?

Replaying MoneySeize. It's still a lot of fun, but Flash's terribleness is really getting in the way... The game will run at 30 FPS for anywhere between 0 and 15 minutes after starting the game, and then drop down to 15 or 10 FPS until I reload it. Far from ideal for a precision platformer. The same game built on a different technology would be vastly better.

Stage 4 of Crypt of the Necrodancer is kicking my ass. I was amazed when I got to the Ringer the first time and died instantly. I'm so done with this.
Managed to beat it, feel like dropping it for awhile. Next up I just have to finish Deus Ex (the first) and I'll be thinking of picking up Caves of Qud. Until the Afterbirth DLC.

Got around to playing Darkest Dungeon. They do a good job of ensuring that the Lovecraftian kitsch remains central to the player's experience. You feel the pressure constantly, and the game is unfair enough (with random, oftentimes brutal turns of fortune) that you end up operating at a constant low level of stress with occasional hectic peaks. The game is an experience of endless, atmospheric attrition. The narration is enjoyable, ultra-serious and just cheesy enough to make you grin.
One flaw that surprised me was an easy exploit to get around healing issues. Your HP loss persists throughout the dungeon crawl, and characters are only allowed to use healing abilities in battle. Healing abilities are "free," lacking a resource cost, so the developers ensured that characters in a "fair fight" will take far more damage than they can hope to heal. So the sneaky player is guided toward crafting situations in which there is one of the weakest enemy types left, with lowered accuracy, so that the characters can sneak in several healing spells before the battle ends. It's a strange oversight and one that I don't know how to "ignore" as a rogueliker (in most RLs, every opportunity exists to be ruthlessly exploited.)
But still a very fun game. It delivered on the promises it made during the kickstarter.
