This is NOT the official voting thread for the PGC Compo for best game in the compo. Please use this link: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=2007.0TIGS PGC Competition's Unnoficial Secondary AwardsBest Use of Procedurally Generated ContentLets get this thing started, shall we? The PGC Secondary Awards are secondary voting threads for more specific aspects of each game in the competition. Much like the Oscars, you get the big voting for the best game, and you get smaller awards for more specific elements. We'll have thread for things like Best Visuals, Audio, Most Promising Entry That Ddin't Make it, etc. We'll start with the heart of the competition, procedural generation. In this voting you are to focus on how each game made use of procedural generation in its development and to enhance the player experience. PG content can be used in order to save space by making the game file very small, in order to randomly (or not-so-randomly) generate content for the game, allow the game to have things like nearly (or truly) infinite length, etc. PG gives a lot of possibilities. Well then, lets start voting, and don't forget to vote in Derek's thread for the official winner. I'm still taking suggestions for future polls, so feel free to tell me what you'd like to see and I'll consider. Other polls:Most Fun/Compelling Gameplay: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=2023.0Best AudioVisual Presentation: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=2066.0Most Promising Entries That Didn't Make It: http://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=2100.0

I'd like to suggest: - best atmosphere
- most interesting/innovative game mechanics
- greatest depth of gameplay
- most polished
What categories do you have in mind so far?

So far I'm thinking of doing Best Visuals, Best Audio, Most Unique, Most Fun/Compelling Gameplay, Most Promissing That Didn't Make It. those are the ones I'm sure of. I may do a couple of joke ones afterwards.

This is a great idea. I won't go through all my votes like I did in the main voting thread, but I do want to say that my #1 goes to Faith, to a Certain Degree for procedurally generating the meaning of life.
Our world works because of one thing: Barrels full of ale. It doesn't get any deeper than that.

Isn't that true for all worlds? They don't have to be barrels.

Shouldn't this topic be temporarily stickied or sumfin? Otherwise it'll be buried in the forum, ne'er to be seen again. Can't vote for what you can't see. Then, when it's done, just post results in main voting thread, unsticky them and let them drift.
EDIT: Oh, there's another one. That too.

So should this thread by sticky or not? If there's only going to be one sub category (Most Fun/Compelling Gameplay), I don't see the need to sticky this one instead of the sub category thread. One of them could be stickied tho.

Mujakwi was an awesome game, if a bit monotonous. Given a bit more variety, some quests, and a structured story that follows through the procedurally generated content (as well as being able to customize your ship, buy new weapons, and keep revisiting generated planets again) would make it a fantastic game, not just an interesting one.

Yay dropTD! Glad to see it won this award.
I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I'm pretty friggin' sure that even the music in this game was PG ... it made use of Pure Data which is a visual coding language that specializes in generated music and sound.
