Finished A Certain Scientific Railgun a little while ago, the Level Upper arc was intense and washed away my doubts about the series until it suddenly became a bunch of filler episodes, the last arc mostly made up for that, loved the highway mech fight. Misaka is now one of my favourite characters.

Now I'm watching A Certain Magical Index II, about halfway through and I like that it has a better overarching plot rather than just relying on things happening out of nowhere. Can't wait for Railgun S and the movie that's happening next year.

I have a bad feeling about this one.  I don't see a happy ending for any of these characters and it's starting to feel like the beginning of the end.

Holy shit The Daughter of Twenty Faces. I don't think I've had my expectations for the direction of a show shattered this much since Ga-Rei Zero, and before that maybe the Narutaru manga. Holy shit.

So for an outsider what's a good animu to watch?  Pretty much my only recent exposure to this kinda stuff is reading Osayumi Pun Pun, but I check out One Piece fanslations semi-casually cos I like how bananas it is.  I just marathoned Spice and Wolf starting pretty much on a whim and then kinda getting addicted despite misgivings about it being basically I Dream of Jeannie for furries - now I got the bug.  Best: Pyrite trading arc.

@sharkoss
It really depend on your exposition exposure to anime and genre you affectionate (even if one strength of manga is actually to blur what taste mean, you can love totally unexpected things due to massive genre cross over).

If you have little exposition, rejoice there is plenty good anime (in the history of anime) for whatever taste you have, also it will be less jarring to start with derivative works with minor iteration.

Well, I guess I have quite a bit of exposure by osmosis, like through stuff linked on the internets/animated gifs and stuff like that.  That way I have basically seen what I assume is the worst the medium has to offer.  Little girls with eye patches, K-On etc.
And that wasn't a complete list of stuff I've seen/read or nothing.  Going back a couple of years I saw Tekkonkinkreet (sp), Mind Game.  And I like Ghibli films and stuff.  Long time ago I saw NGE and liked it at the time but I am not sure I would watch it again.

Uh, more specifically right now I guess I am in the mood for romance with a bit of fantasy/magic realism/surrealism or something like that.  Something with attention to detail that will make me sad and happy and stuff.  As long as it's not shit.  Assume intelligence, is what I'm saying.  Spice & Wolf is probably as low as I can set the bar though I honestly did like it.  So nothing worse than that.  But maybe something less depressing than Pun Pun.

Okay try ghost in the shell second season (but you might have to watch first season first and there is a slow start).  Evil

I'll let people offer you more sensible choice, I didn't kept up with newer things as nothing caught my eye enough.
