You know, I've started to notice how many Kickstarter projects sound like things I'd find in Skymall.  Weird.

So, someone put up a kickstarter asking for money to pledge to the Elite kickstarter:

I don't know whether to laugh, cry or just shrug at this...

Ending up $28 short of a $50,000 goal must really suck:

Is it a feasible solution to make a new account and pledge yourself $28?

Well it's over now, so not anymore.  But yes, I think I've heard of people contributing to their own kickstarter when the project was very close but not quite making it otherwise ...

In this case, the kickstarter's comments indicate that it was actually $828 away and someone donated $800 in the last seconds of the campaign, so there wasn't time to react:

The final bump that put it up to $49972 appeared to come from one backer's pledge raise in the final seconds, when nobody could do anything at all (like single digits of seconds). That person raised by over $800 at once, but chose (WHY?!) not to go in another $28. My perspective is that it was on purpose, they did not have the funds available, and they wanted to make a point. Otherwise that pledge (and a corresponding comment!) could have come with a minute to go, and a chance for me (or others watching) to kick in the final dollars.

No, what's really terrible, IMO, is the devs admitting that $50k would not have been enough to do the game properly, yet committing to the kickstarter anyway, in the hope that they could hit multiples of their asked for funding.

They must also have skimped on getting the word out because rockpapershotgun.com missed including them on their Kickstarter Katchup.

This actually looks extremely good.  It's not very often that you come across a game worth funding on Kickstarter, but this one is winning me over.

When I saw it I was really pleasantly pleased. It looks great and has a lot of style and I assume thought put into it. It's doing really well too!

A friend of mine currently has a kickstarter up for a chess-set inspired by natural basalt formations.  Of course it's an indie board-game rather than an indie video- one, but I figure there might still be some people around here that would be interested in it:
