Howdy! I'm in crunch mode at work, but going to fit in a few hours here and there to build a very simple game about sprint orienteering. You will have a compass and a map showing a few landmarks, elevation, and your course.

Here are some WIP screenshots.

Some thorny bramble trees on a hillside.

Peering into the forest from a meadow clearing.

Good luck to everyone! Beer!

1 week update. "Footing" mechanic mostly implemented; bad footing increases chance of injury from falls and can cause you to stumble when running. HUD elements for health and targets done.

That is a waterfall on the right.

I like how it looks so far! It sounds like sort of a survival exploration game and I really have been looking to play something like this for a while. Can't wait to see more progress.

Thanks NightPatrol for the encouragement.

I don't have any visual update for this week. The high priority game mechanics are in for the most part, basic menus are in, now world building is left. I made a very basic method to handle keyboard FPS movement, you can choose WASD, ESDF, ,AOE, or ZQSD. If anyone has other configurations that they would like, please let me know.

Doing way too much overtime at work. It's "voluntary" but you know how that goes. Really I want to be home every night working on this. I want to recommend HOTween at http://www.holoville.com/hotween/index.html. Its a wonderful and free tweening engine for Unity 3d and is making my life so much easier.

Peace.

This sounds like a really awesome type of parkour + explorative navigation game. Looking forward to it Smiley

Adding some mirror's edge parkour movement would be awesome, but unfortunately outside the scope of this project. There is jumping at least... and compasses!

4 days off to work on the game! Wooooooo! Still need to hook up the actual compass needle, but it's turkey time now.

This is awesome! Just awesome!
I can't stop playing.
I have troubles finding the last object in the course 3 though...I'm at the right spot, upper bottom of the screen, but I can't find anything! This is damn well hidden.
I've wrote a french review of this game from my blog, will post it tomorrow.

I'll admit that a game about orienteering didn't exactly fill me with excitment, but thankfully this is surprisingly enjoyable. I think to get the most out of it each course should have it's own map. By the third course I had memorized the map and didn't need to use the compass. But all in all a fun jaunt. Good stuff Hand Thumbs Up Left
