http://ncfc.taloncrossing.com/

While registration is close, you might be able to make it for last minute booth registration if anyone is interested.

All in all, it's a virtual convention dedicated to Nintendo-based fan-games.
Just figured I'd throw up a link and see if anyone might be intrigued.

Although I love Nintendo to death...

I'd be afraid to go to this, I might wake up with my kidney missing, it's shady.  Gentleman

I think this is a waste, why not create original games? Nintendo already creates enough fan games of its own games IMO. Gentleman

So is this a one post wonder advertisement?  SHAME ON YOU.

HEY MAN Take it easy... a lot of my first games were stupid Nintendo fan games.  People like Nintendo games, people like making games... it all makes sense.  Plenty of times I wondered to myself how I would approach a Mario game, and that I think is reason enough to go for a fan game!  :D  Beer!

Although an online convention is.... kind of a weird idea.

Yeah, I'm aware it's odd and honestly a bit haphazardly thrown together, but there's potential for some decent entries I suppose. It seems I've less and less time to develop games with my hectic course schedule, so it's a nice vacation to just throw out some tribute games and not have to worry about any resources, just piecing together a fan-game. I'm a fan of games, be it Nintendo or otherwise, while I expect a majority of the turn out to be amateurish at best, it just seems like a nice opportunity to create a game quickly and create odd mash-ups with gameplay or just interesting and unique gameplay elements to classic scenarios and familiar characters.

SHAME ON YOU.

No remorse, no regrets, no excuses.
It is what it is; a post.

Hey, you know Comic Market in Japan? That's a convention for fan stuff.

Regarding this... Well, it's just an online thing, so it should be cool for people interested in Nintendo fan games. Which I am not, but whatever.

I think I recognise Tokyoma's name and avatar from a Game Maker-related forum - s/he's not just some random corporate executive NON-INDIE spamming up the forum.   Beer!

though if you want to win over this crowd, Tokyoma, the Obligatory Introduce Yourself Thread is the best (and perhaps only way) to start  Wink

Yeah, but that's not exactly how I operate, most people have come to know this by now, but I appreciate the sentiment.

Anyway, It's 7:18am and I've had little sleep, I'm going to bed.

Later guys. :]

I always though it was 'obligatory' as in 'every forum ought to have one.'

I don't understand the point of a virtual convention, especially with limited enrollment.  It's not like there are transportation, time or space issues if it's all online ... there's no reason not to spread things out and let people participate freely.

And a booth is just a link to a website?  So, the expo is just a page of links?  That doesn't sound great ... why not drop the bizarre expo metaphor and just have a blog that posts interesting links as they come up?

(and yeah, that's a shady website.)

That really doesn't change much of anything, considering I'm not affiliated with the ncfc in any way and I've yet to complete or even mention my project for the event. It was more of a heads up at what's going on, but it seems to be rapidly regressing to something worse than spam; bickering. I'm not in the business of being a terrible burden, just a slight pain in the neck. So agj, you can have it, I don't want it.

Hey, well, sorry, I wasn't trying to police you or anything like that. I did introduce myself in that thread because it seems to be the thing to do here, and wanted to let you know. I've been here for only a few months, myself, so it was more in the spirit of helping you out a bit. Alright?

There needs to be a Trainwreck booth. I would be all up ons that.

Have you been to RAGE? They have some hilariously bad (on purpose) Sonic fangames. I helped out a little with GROWABEARD.

Now, SAGE? That event is pretty lame.

Edit: Turns out that there is another expo called RAGE. Here's the one I'm talking about:
