I played the whole demo, didn't notice anything.  And by scoring system I don't just mean "You can get points by killing things" .. there has to be some way to improve it (Combo/chain counter, collectable medals, proximity bonus, something like that)

Well unfortunately "scoring system" isn't really up for debate on what it is or is not. If you get a score then there's a scoring system. Regardless of how in depth you think it should be.

It's pretty common to refer to complex scoring as a scoring system .. you must have missed the memo.

The game has a score. It has a high score board, that's as in depth as I'd like it to get. Although combos might be interesting to implement.

Quick Update:
Fixed the mouse to be more precise, added full 360 controller support.

Also added a rumble feature for the 360 controller. Makes the game feel much more alive.  Smiley

I'll be posting a public updated version very soon!

Small update to the pre-alpha,

-xbox 360 controller support added( with rumble too!)

-Fixed minor bugs

-Added new enemy off screen display

-Minor tweaks

Also toward the end of the demo build I felt like the screen was getting really cluttered... I actually lost track of the character and he was stuck on some rocks as I was trying to move upward...

Usually not good when I can't even locate my own character, lol.

The game is overall fun though... just needs more now! Also the song at the beginning was... well... it was a song I suppose.  Cheesy

Thanks! I'll probably lessen the amount of sand storm effects. I'm thinking I might just drop the mouse entirely as it seems to just confuse most people when the player can only shoot in 8 directions. I think wasd + arrows or 360 controllers are the most comfortable with the games current aiming setup.

I would appreciate some health/boost bonuses in bosses areas. The final boss killed me once when I had this crazy firepower and it became very difficult to kill it with the first "gun" afterwards.

I also switched to full keyboard half way because of the 8-directions mouse control.

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't posted anything in awhile. The game had to get put on the back burner for awhile but now I'll be able to work on it full-time again. So hopefully I can get this thing done by next year.

This game looks awesome! I like all the enemies and the different abilities the cactus can do. I'm a big fan of the Mexican skull motif you added. My only criticism of the game is the roses in the top corners in game. They seem to clash with the style of what's going on in the game. Although its just a nitpick, I'm look forward to playing the game regardless. I'm not at a computer right now but can't wait to check out the alpha!
