I am trying to upload a profile picture, I put the URL where my picture is and click on Change Profile button. Nothing seems to happen.

What format and size does the picture require?

go to profile>>forum profile information, input the URL in the 'i have my own pic' entry, and then hit save.

the image must be <=100x100 pixels or it will not work.

but still doesn't work, it is 100x100 pixel and PNG as your one.

the image url you're using is invalid; try uploading it to imgur or tumblr. it should work then.

I too had trouble figuring this out yesterday. The page ought to have this informationon it so people can have less trouble getting their avatars to work.

No, it seems dropbox is not supported.

The image is not actually uploaded, but only linked to. It would be nice to list what website is supported or what are the conditions around it.

finally ! i was wondering why it wasn't working. That would be great if there was a text saying it should be exactly 100x100. ( maybe there is but i haven't seen one)

Most avatars here aren't 100x100, so I'm not sure where you're getting that from?

I have tried multiple different resolutions like 64x64, 80x80(jpg) none of  them accepted. 100x100 worked so i thought it required exact match.

100x100 is the max, there is also a memory size limit

So maybe it was the size limit. Anyway i think it would be great if the from was telling me about the restrictions. (If there is something, i couldn't see it.)

Agreed. I spent like 10 minutes trying to get my avatar to work, issue was because all the avatars I tried were over 100x100.

Wow, didn't really mean to necro. I saw the date just as I clicked submit. Anyway, what I said is still relevant and this thread was pretty much at the top still anyway.

Yay! I got my avatar up! I just posted a 100x100 pic on my tumblr and right clicked to get the image url. Thanks for all the help everybody!

I got dropbox to work too, if your public link is

remove the "s" from http and add it to your profile like
http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/22828645/Avatar1.png

and you are good!

I just see a blank box under Personalized Picture, no way to upload something. Does the uploader require Flash or something? I've just hotlinked it to imgur for now...
