I like how the nest and the worm in the top left show the constituent triangles in different shades - it goes with the aesthetic of your backgrounds. I'd love to see some of that on the tank, since it's such a big, solid shape.
Thanks! I think you're right, adding some triangles to the tank should look nice (Oh please have them wobble up and down when flying instead of a linear path.)

Thanks! Also ahh I really like the idea of eye sentinels concealing themselves that way. It would have to be a giant bird or a tiny eye sentinel but maybe ... Anyway here are things from that inkscape mockup, now at least kind of in-game: Birds! They're not hooked up to fly around yet, all they do is run a test animation loop: Worms! They work... but I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with them, gameplay-wise. Tanks! They mostly work. The bullets are a bit awkward -- the framerate suffers if I don't delete bullets, so currently I delete a tank's bullet as soon as it fires a new one, which is jarring. Maybe if they explode on impact or something... edit: Also -- a tank gif where the tree wins ...

Could give the bullets a time limit before exploding if you want to keep the ricochets.

IMO, a tank seems kind of incongruous. Doesn't seem to really fit with the whole theme. Then again, there are lasers.

Yeah I kind of agree -- it doesn't really go with the mouths and eyes and such! The way I'm planning to plot out the game, the story will be non-linear, so if you complete a level in a weird way you'll end up on a series of 'alternate time line' levels where there are incongruous things. The tank is part of one of those ...

Yay, glad you like it Random un-asked for tech explanation: Currently I'm using a pretty janky trick to make Box2D give 'harder' impacts when I break apart the tree: I break a branch off only if the bullet hits a sensor that is slightly buried inside the branch, so the bullet needs to hit hard enough to slightly interpenetrate the branch for the tree to be torn apart. This tend to make the bullet impart more force to the whole tree when it hits, and makes slower bullets less dangerous. (Really I should try to achieve the same effect by looking at the reaction forces at the joints when a bullet is hitting a branch, but my hacky approach easier to throw together and seems to work for now ...) Wow, this is looking great. So much has been added since I last tried it at Stevie's. Is the triangle collection as a goal still in place?
Thanks! Yep, Sierpinski triangles are still there as a collectible/side-goal thing. I still need to figure out *why* they're there though, and find some good motivations for the players to collect them ...
