I demand compensation! Orange and grey? MARKS OF MY TRADE!
*cough*
It's looking good, I do hope you're going to spruce up the bg a bit.

Oh but of course... I meant the background. Definitely going to spice it up.

Might I suggest surroundings similar to the character(s) ? And with an extremely limited palette. I really love those little sprites.

Thanks for the advice, pen. That battle mock-up is pretty sexy. I was thinking the little simple characters would look cool in a really detailed environment, but it may make it harder to discern the people from the BG. As for the color palette, I never understood why people limited themselves to old NES color specifications and such. I know! I've always had a fascination with lots of small little things. Maybe it's because they're like collectible little toys?

As for the color palette, I never understood why people limited themselves to old NES color specifications and such. My pleasure If you want to play with differences in detail I'd suggest you add even more details to the environment. I just presented you with something you'd end up with if you went in the opposite direction. I'd say sometimes fewer colours really just looks better (playing mirror's edge at the moment, and holy crap it's beautiful). But going with the NES palette is a bit very hardcore indeed. I know! I've always had a fascination with lots of small little things. Maybe it's because they're like collectible little toys? Gotta catch them aaaaall~ Speaking of the varying sprites. Will you be able to change weapons (-> change sprite)

What I was thinking of doing was making a web of all of the different weapons you can add on. From there I'm going to create a base for all of the movements, and then add on every conceivable combination. Or plan B, create classes and as you level, your weapons do so as well. I think plan B is easier.

Just remember that the simplicity of the color palette should reflect the resolution. Also, how about lemmings with battles instead of puzzles?

LOFI? Please explain. Also, how about lemmings with battles instead of puzzles?
Yeah, I was thinking about this. At first I was thinking of turning into a territorial like sim where you set your bases to build different types of troops, And then just send them out onto the battlefield. FUTURE - FUTURE - OLOGY! FEEEEVVVEERRRR!!!
Ah hah hah hah! :D I almost died laughing. ------------- Glad you guys are diggin' it. I'll hopefully post more on Sunday.

Double posting an updated mock-up. What do you think of the added details?

How do you plan on making this?
I'm not completely sure yet, so I'll go at it with a baby-step approach. My friend is doing the coding while I do art and animation. We both contribute to the story and ideas. We'll start with a simple physics engine: -run, jump, attack, etc. For the AI and parts that my coder might not be able to do, maybe I could ask some people here for help...? BTW, I'll ask my coder to join the forums... Huzzah for viral publicity. this looks pretty ace
Thanks.
