That said, this is the only sports game I've played in years, so I think a sports compo is a pretty bad idea, unless we indie-fy it by saying something like "make up a crazy sport and make a game for that crazy sport," to keep things on the crazier side.
YEAH  OF COURSE
Do you imagine a TIGS sport compo would be entirely first degree Roll Eyes
Jeeeeezzz oh you guys
In 2008 we got the awesome QWOP.
Can't you imagine the awesomeness that a sport compo would be?

I don't tend to play sports games, and I agree entirely. A Sport Compo would likely be spectacular.

Cactus, the game's tough, but it's fair, too. One must gather a certain level of finesse and skill to play well. A level I don't yet have. That's a good thing. I quite like the game. Simple and crisp.

Now, to not suck at it...
I think that took me about 15-20 minutes of frustration; but man, when you get good it's so satisfying!  Kiss

Yeah cactus, the learning curve isn't great, but I don't think you should try and tweak it at all, because once you've picked it up that game is an absolute blast to play!  Grin
Yeah, that's exactly how I felt. When I first implented the scoring system I got my ass handed to me, but then I started winning and it felt really good.

I should've probably made the graphics more attractive to keep people playing until they started getting a good grasp on the gameplay. Maybe added some humorous effects when you lost so it wouldn't be as frustrating Concerned

I think the graphics are adorable. You don't need to worry about that. However, I agree that the learning curve is somewhat steep. But hey, the training certainly helps a bunch. Smiley

Lovely game! Smiley

Hey cactus, I wrote a GlovePIE script for this so that you can play it with a Wiimote and Nunchuk.  Flick the remote to press Z, and use the Analog Stick for the Arrow Keys.

I've started a GlovePIE thread, and that script is the first one I posted.

It's WAY funner to play it like this!  Kiss

I already suggested this, but it got shot down. I think it's a great idea, because commercial sports games have become SO homogenized. There are a lot of great opportunities for innovation in sports games.

There were a couple in the VGNG compo, like Narcoleptic Soccer Rush and Football Planet.

What, you don't remember "Morbidly Obese Rugby Nation"?

That had to be my favorite game of the whole compo!  :D

I can't remember if I was one of the people who shot it down, but I like the idea now. Corny Laugh

Well, put it on your list! I guarantee that's a competition I'll contribute to!
