Holy qwop! That's pretty damn awesome. Though I think it may be a little ambitious to do something like that in 3D. What program are you going to be using?

quick 'n' dirty color test, instead of making yet another black\red monster i'm going for this, like his skin is made of a bone-like material coloring with the mouse sucks so i used only pretty flat colors and i aimed to a sketcky like stuff more than a painting

Lookin' pretty good but the shoulders bother me. I can't really see how the arms connect to the torso, or any of the muscles that would move them around. The joint area seems really thick and stiff. I like the way the chest looks though.

yes i think it was the main error i did, i had this "vision" in mind and to not let it go i had to rush a shape on some paper... i think now i'll take more time to turn it to a real character, maybe in a blueprint with front\side projections too

sooooooooooooo as i said my aim was to do that model in 3d, i've started learning modo and zbrush better with an environment piece, it's a bridge (well it's part of a bridge, it will be mirrored for texture saving purposes) here's the bridge, untextured, in zbrush it has a gazillion of polygons of course, but the purpose is to generate a normalmap from it and then apply it on the lowpoly version (that i did too ) the next step will be texturing, and then i'll try it in realtime inside our engine. After that i'll start to model the demon king

I like it, the arched openings on the side add flavor. There's a big bit of wall space between the arches and the big opening, you could probably tuck a statue or a bas relief of the local empire/king/whatnot's crest or symbol there.

Oooh, 3D Demon King will look great!
Also, I love the bridge! It looks very alive. In a good way.

Thanks guys! I'll surely do several versions of this bridge because the game will feature many architectural stuff in different styles. For this one I wanted to have something that's nice and distinctive but yet common to see as it will be replicated around. The good thing is that i've already planned to add different details such spots of grass, dirt, tiny plants inside the openings and wild bushes all over the walls too make them look different each others The relief idea is very good and i think i'll try something like that too so many thanks Lynx! it has a gazillion of polygons of course, but the purpose is to generate a normalmap from it and then apply it on the lowpoly version (that i did too ) I'd never though about it, but that's a really smart idea! Think I have to try that out sometime. It's quite the standard workflow today but it's mostly used for characters as for environments a lot of artists makes the normalmaps out of greyscale height textures. I had to learn better how to do and bake them and starting with a simpler model is always better, also i think i'll bake the ambient occlusion of the hires model to a texture too and i'll use it as reference for the texture, this way i can paint the stone bricks as they're on the normalmap and i hope to achieve a better looking result I think i'll do a simple scene with a landscape and some buildings like that to make several techdemos for our own 3d engine, so i'll texture this stuff both in a realistical manner and a more artsy way i'm curious about what i'll achieve in both the cases
