I'm not one to get starry eyed about most games, but I stayed up until 3:30 last night waiting for the TF2 release and oh my god was it worth it.
I can honestly say this is one of the best looking games I've ever played. From their character shading to the motionblur effects to the multitude of other polish details that all come together, to the way it's just good ol' TFC, they really made a magical game.
My hat is off to Valve and all the people that worked on this.

Grr, since my laptop has nothing near the power required to play something like that I'm waiting for the 360 version to arrive alongside all the other things. Which is cool, since I'd love to have a huge package of everything together, it'd be like an awesome Valve-Arcade.
But it also means I have to wait and play something else to pass the time while everyone tells me how amazing it is.

In true New-games-journalist style I shall write about my experience of playing the game, rather than the game itself.
Nice loading screen and then BAM another, entirely different loading screen and then.... it hangs. Oh well I'll pass the time with some good old fashioned halflife 2 while I wait for steam to update me and provide me with a working version... oh wait, that hasn't worked since the last source engine update either.
Orange box is looking to be a pretty awesome deal so far, well worth the money.

Great, but what the hell is up with claiming it will be out Monday and then releasing it at 1:30 AM Tuesday?

it unlocked on Monday for us West Coasters the game is phenomenal, truly worth every ounce of hype. I need to join an empty server so I can cruise around and check the sites. Kinda hard to appreciate the art direction when you're getting ripped up by HWG's Great, but what the hell is up with claiming it will be out Monday and then releasing it at 1:30 AM Tuesday?

Bah, I wish I could run this game. Or at least get a 360.
This, Portal, and Garry's Mod look like the best things ever.

I heard there was a demo released, but I doubt it's on Xbox Live. Never played the first one, but the look of TF2 appeals to me, it's nice to see an FPS that isn't uber realistic (wonder when TimeSplitters 4 will be released).

I bought Half-Life 1 on release day because valve claimed TF2 was going to be a mod for it. This was a while after they dropped it as a Quake 2 mod.
