HANGEDMAN used Detail!
Wild HUD became detailed!
HANGEDMAN used Sketchy Background!
It was not very effective...

The HUD feels a bit too inconsistent to me. Some bits don't have any diagonals but others have both 30 and 45 degree ones, and the circular bits on the spiky thing don't really fit. It's also bugging me that most of it has a nice border between the HUD and screen edge but the top right bit goes to the edge.

The colour scheme works though, nice and simple and unobtrusive.

Ugh, I'm no good at backgrounds.

Forgive me, I'm new.

I like the look of the second image, Jo.

HANGEDMAN has good taste in music!

I'm actually in the exact same boat as Mr. Psysal here. I love mockups almost more than I love games, because my imagination fills in the gaps and creates these wonderful gameplay experiences in my head, and they're far more mythical and fantastic to me.
I'm split between feeling this way and feeling extreme anger and jealousy. Tongue Being not much of an artist, I see all these awesome mockups and scream at my monitor "make that game!" wishing I could make awesome mockups and maybe turn a few into actual games.

The AI person is my first go at making something with Zbrush, so it's pretty deformed. I imagine this as being a complex tactical RPG where you control everything about your own personal spaceship. You would recruit different crew members, customize your weapons, and get in gigantic space battles.

So is that like a cutscene or something? It looks pretty cool whatever it is.

The second image is just the first image without a background. But, uh, thanks.

Thanks for the input. Working on changing the angles now, and that upper right needs to be swung around or suspended to maintain the style. I'm also going to fix the roundrects on the map and item display, making them a bit more angular. I need a better font, that looks neither too blocky nor too formal, but still a bit angular. Maybe something more vertically narrow...

HANGEDMAN has good taste in music!

Cheers! Most relaxing music ever.

Something like that I guess.

Personally, I like the first image better (it looks like the background is all black unless I turn my monitor brightness up)

Yeah, I want a background in there, but I'm not very experienced with tiling stuff, and making it look like it wasn't tiled. Been trying for a while:

I'm gonna try and find somewhere to read up on it tomorrow, but right now I am busy playing video games and posting on these here forums.

Awesome. There's a pretty obvious case of the grid going on in the ground tiles, but other than that the designs of the buildings are really cool.

It is really awesome. I like the art style.  Hand Thumbs Up Left Grin Hand Thumbs Up Right

I just think is kind of hard to see the characters, they almost merge with the scenery. It would be nicer if they had a different outline or different collors.

Thanks :]

I'll fix the tiles of course by adding objects in the ground to make it look different. I'll probably add that in my next update, and yeah, I think my biggest weakness it making the characters pop up.

I'll probably change the other characters more of a black tone instead of a brown town.

This is great. But I don't like how it pays too much tribute to Cave Story. :/

Mockups of the first area in my game.
I was trying to decide which environment would be better and drew several variations. Tongue

The last one looks kind of La Mulana-ish though, aughfbk

Those are noice, mang. I was just about to say last one looks like la mulana but then you said it so now I don't have to. I think I like the second one best, though.

My reactions:

Second screenshot: Kiss
Third screenshot: Kiss
"Mockups of the first area in my game.": Tears of Joy

Finally, someone who actually makes the game he posts great mockups of!

Ah, and: Second one for me, too.
