True, but I go to half-mast when I imagine an online database of all of this stuff being constantly added to in the future from a community of talent like this one. Most free assets I've found online were of limited use for most games, ripped from commercial games, or just not very good.

An online database, kinda like http://opengameart.org/? Quality isn't all the best, but it fits the bill.

...except those are limited to only Open Source games it seems.

That's the perception the site gives but people uploading art can assign creative commons licenses which don't require the final game to be open source. Most content on the site seems to use such licenses. I think if you go back a few pages in this thread we've already had this discussion.

Just a heads-up, I'm going to try and get both the Assemblee 1 entries and Assemblee 2 entries on a page THIS WEEKEND.  This includes going back and reading people's comments on a license for the art and music to decide on one to use.

Really sorry for not getting Assemblee 1 put together sooner, but hey, THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR SUBMITTING A SHIT-TON OF GREAT WORK.

The voting on each will be simultaneous.  Now is the time to see how many options Simple Machines can handle in a poll...

I've just been told about a bug in my game which means it wouldn't run on integrated graphics cards. The fix is incredibly easy (already written and tested it), but am I allowed to upload the fix for my entry? It seems like a reasonable thing to do, but I thought I'd be honest in case anyone thought I was doing something nefarious.

I think the right thing to do would be doing the fix but preserving the link to the original entry. I hope we are working on an honor basis?

We wait for Derek to publish the entries.

Then we vote.

Then we wait for the next compo.

Fix the bugs people, the only thing that's frowned upon is adding content at this point.

You can always keep the buggy pre-deadline version available as well.

Is adding a final boss so that the game has an ending instead of just crashing considered a bugfix? Smiley

Wait, we can do bugfixes this late in the competition?

What if I force an update, so that the buggy version no longer works (As I don't want people making broken bosses)?

I say fix up all you want. It's all good natured, and if it means we get better games at the end then that has got to be a good thing.

Melly said it was okay, so I have fixed mah bugs.  Hand Metal Left Grin Hand Metal Right

For what it's worth, I've been trying to get a headstart on the whole playing the entries thing, for when the voting process opens, and some of you guys are TERRIFYINGLY good at this game making malarkey. Where did people learn to get so good at this?

Dude, please... this and the comment you left on the front page... it's not helping at all.

But yeah, bugfixes are quite alright at this point.
