I wanted to do a C64 game for this since I made some before. But then I though this would be no fun, and I made a 2600 game. Smiley

Assets used:
- Oryx 1-bit brick wall and door and a guy and a bat
- Cosmic-Fool tiny font
- Syniphas music
- Sounds effects can be considered as "procedurally generated"

I had to type these assets into the code, I hope this countsas cropping or converting  Hand Any KeyConcerned
Oh, and I had to type the music in as well, so the resulting tune may vary from it's original Tongue I hope no-one minds  Gentleman

Screenshot goes here:

There is an emulator (z26) included. Just run 'run.bat' or drag the rom into emu executable.

Controls:
Mouse + button, arrows + ctrl, joystick, gamepad, 360 controller, whatever.

PS:
I have exactly 1108 bytes of ROM space left (before 4kb limit) And i'll gladly fill them with your ideas.

PS2:
Whoa,I forgot the plot, and it's so important to have one, so:
Your inn is being attacked by 87 spiderbats, kill them all and don't let them in or kill you.
That's better Smiley

looks and plays well, like original oldschool Smiley
...liking its simplicity!

Thanks Smiley

I used batari Basic. 2600 asm is a pain, since you have to pass pixels to the screen "by hand". Just see the source for yourself

oh, very compact code...
so nice that all graphics and sounds are embedded in one singe source file... mighty cryptic, but kind of beautiful!

BASIC's good as long as it goes with line numbers and GOTOs Smiley

I though that it is no 2600 game if it's not on a proper hardware.

So, I got a 8kb EEPROM, a circuit board, and a LPT socket, so i can start building my cardridge.

But I found out I'm lacking some circuits for the burner. I'll get them tommorow, and will work on something else in the meantime.

I will post steps of building the cardridge, bacause someone may find it useful if it works.

EDIT: My idea of the burner is a complete prototype and chaces for it to work are quite low.

I failed at making the programmer, but I think I'll solder the cart and have someone else burn it for me.

Anyways, I made no changes cause I'm quite hapy with what I've done so far and want to focus on something else too.

THE END

Liked: The sheer moxie of this entry. Great retro stylings.

Disliked: A bit too simple. I beat it on my first try without really knowing what was going on.

Conclusion: Simple and impressive.  Hand Thumbs Up Right
