Since this place is not a social network, I must type characters in order to express my great appreciation of this work. Wish I could just click "+1" or "retweet".

On a more serious note, the "STATUS - Not Cursed" makes me think of Dark Souls and everything looks super promising. I cant wait to see more.

The art was produced by Alex Porter and is being used as placeholder pieces.

Cow's doing the art and a lot of the design.  We're now going to focus on "weighty" combat and character progression as the primary means of drawing players in.

...art used without permission woops...

Another version of Mothlord was posted recently in the "So what are you working on?" thread - originally this project was just me working on it in my spare time.  This game has in fact gone through four total art "makeovers" all pulled from mockups from within the Kast.  I was looking for a style and a sense.  Alex's work embodies a lot of what I am/was looking for.  It was understood from within the Poppenkast that all of the art I was using was placeholder until I could find an artist.  Sheldon Ketterer (Cow) is now the artist, and we're working on replacing it with original work.  I apologize if there's any confusion, but that was already clear with Alex.

Looking forward to game because of prospect of "weighty" combat.

They are already phasing out your art, im9today. No worries.

Sheldon Ketterer (Cow) is now the artist, and we're working on replacing it with original work.  I apologize if there's any confusion, but that was already clear with Alex.

I love random-crawlers, coincidentally, I also love character customization! This is definitely going to be a favorite of mine.

I love random-crawlers, coincidentally, I also love character customization! This is definitely going to be a favorite of mine.

The amount of customization is small but the affects are enormous.  The player starts out with a Normal sword.  Throughout the course of the game there are multiple opportunities to change from a Normal sword to something else, thereby rendering certain areas and enemies fairly easy and others pretty difficult.  It also will impact your accessibility to access secrets.

The player's sword and shield are both customized.
The world is also open, so you can go to whichever areas you want first.

On a more serious note, the "STATUS - Not Cursed" makes me think of Dark Souls

I agree with the 'not cursed' message giving a dark souls vibe.

That is exactly the inspiration.

when im9today's art is being used as a placeholder, i can only imagine what it will look like when finished.

Again, there's been multiple versions of the placeholder assets used.  Alex's work has everything I want aesthetically.  So the majority of the colors will be retained, with the outside having lots of purples against red trees.  The Dungeons/Caves will still have a blue hue, for the most part, with really austere oranges/reds for the lava.
