Lurker here, registering to say that your game is super impressive. Very simple mechanics, but so much fun! Looking forward to getting a few friends over sometime to play this. You sir/mam have my vote!

This game is so well paced

You should port this to XNA and get it on XBLIG. :D Not sure of how well it would sell, but I'd buy it! This would play so well on a 360, especially if you got online MP working with some kind of leaderboard. :3 Love this game. EDIT: I don't mean that it wouldn't sell well on XBLIG because of the quality, but rather because I'm just not sure how viable the market is. Either way, would love to see it there as it fits perfectly.

It took us a few minutes until we got how to play this correctly, but once we did, it was heaps of fun. Great job! One suggestion would be to be able to restart a level, because once you fly out to space by accident (or fall down to lava) you want to see the level again and figure out what you did wrong.

Just set the same level multiple times in your playlist.

Yeah, but you don't know in advance that you'd want to replay the level. Only after you die a horrible death that urge arises but it's too late, you've already selected the playlist...

Increpare, Terry Cavanagh, Sophie H and I tried this game for a while. Unfortunately we couldn't ever get the transparency bug fixed (even with changing driver settings), and after spending a while getting everything configured it was still pretty confusing. I think the graphics glitches killed it for us, tbh, as some screens made the players invisible.

This was my favourite game in the compo.
Too bad the graphics didn't work for you, sounds like generic gamemaker surface problems.

Folks, I'm admittedly biased by being a friend of Tekno's, but this game is *really* worth a try. It may well be the most fun I've ever had with a multiplayer game. Serious.

We gave this a shot yesterday but had trouble getting into it. We never really grasped the controls, I think, and just ended up killing ourselves with grenades a lot.
Maybe it was just a fluke of the resolution of the TV we played on, but the game seemed too small to play effectively. And at 2X, it was too big and we lost part of the screen.
Mostly, we just had trouble moving around. Also, we couldn't figure out why sometimes you fired a gun and sometimes used a sword. We thought it was probably a reload timer on the gun, but the time seemed completely inconsistent.
After reading the comments, I think there are a few pieces of information that would have really helped us.
1. You can hold jump to jump higher. 2. You have to wait for your gun to reload to fire again. Otherwise, you use your knife when attacking.
And this wouldn't of helped us yesterday but it's good to know:
3. You can parry a knife attack with a knife attack. 4. Shooting a grenade makes it explode.
Well, that was our experience. We all really liked the concept but had trouble with the learning curve. Like almost every game we tried, it wouldn't hurt to have some in-game instructions. I'm looking forward to trying this game again now that I know some of the subtleties of the controls!

I didn't know you can parry knives.
Another tip that would probably fit in the "wouldn't have helped you but good to know" category is that you can knock away grenades with your dagger.
Personally I set the options to only 1 grenade, because I found there was a lot of grenade kills, and gun and knife kills are more rewarding.
You can tell when the gun is ready to shoot when the tip glows white.
Also in the final round, the person in first doesn't get a gun, and the person in last gets a super gun. You can turn this off in the options.

Ok, that would explain a lot! At one point I was shooting very rapidly and I didn't know why -- which further increased my confusion about the reload time. I saw that option in the menus but didn't know what it did. Also good to know about batting grenades away. It sounds like there are a lot of interesting subtleties to this game!

It sucks when you try to bat away a grenade, and your gun recharges just before you press shoot.

Post shit like this in feedback/announcement!! It was pure luck that I found it! bookmark his site man. he has blog updates and stuff. teknopants.com >hold jump to jump faster >tip of gun is white when charged >gun makes "ZUP" sound when recharged >if you use the knife, the gun will take longer to recharge >you can fire the gun to change your trajectory when floating >the longer you hold grenade before releasing, the harder you throw >you can shoot grenades to explode them (yours or an enemy's) >you can knock away grenades with the knife >if you jump off an open level, you will burn up in the atmosphere (unless you use your gun recoil to get back) >when you knife on the ground, you dash forward a bit >if two players knife each other, they'll parry and be knocked back There are a lot more subtle things in this game that make it replayable/ allow good people to exploit in order to dominate. Lots of timing nuances.

Far and away my friend and I's favorite game of this comp. There were a lot of accidental deaths but that was part of the fun!
