I just finished Hotline Miami. What a strange game. Couldn't make a damn bit of sense of the story, but gameplay was quite enjoyable.

You kinda spoil yourself by solving the puzzle. Not as great as it sounds, its better to make up your own interpretation.

Valkyria Chronicles totally makes me think of XCOM, with switching the view to third person. Story is kinda lame still.

Started playing Puppeteer, my god, the whole presentation is incredibly adorable and delightful. The gameplay is average, but i can forgive it.

the story in valkyria chronicles is megadum but the game is still great. probably the most (only?) successful attempt at "modernizing" the srpg genre so far.

While some shit was updating, I played a bit of demons souls again. I still cant beat the boletaria palace 1-2 section. I get killed by blue eyed knight past the dragonfire corridors. I out-crossbow the crossbow guys with my crossbow, but as soon as i duel this knight guy, i try to use my sorrounding,s, only to haeve the dragon trigger its fire breathe event and one hit kill me lol.

yeah, feels like it. my only gripe is the lack of vehicle options. but i am definitely getting this xcom lite vibe.

Been playing way too much of the new DRoD lately. The story concept and how the levels are linked with it is fascinating, the level design has taken an artistic approach, and the puzzles are more of a puzzle than long executions. It's like they've combined the polish and story quality of main DRoD games, but combined it with what makes user-made levels so fun to play. I've completed around 700 rooms out of near 800 and it seems like there will be much more than that, all of puzzle quality, making it 3x larger than its predecessors. Definitely GOTY for me

Picked up Shadowrun Returns and the DLC during the steam sale, having a lot of fun with that. I only wish there was more equipment and some proper NPC management.

Yeah the Dead Man Switch campaign in Shadowrun Returns was quite short, I wish it was a bit longer and not so railroaded. I wanted to explore and talk to more people.

I love hearing stories of poorly balanced games and dominant strategies. More detail, please! Bonus points if you recommend ways they could fix the balance.

take this with a grain of salt as i've only played for like 2-3 hours and probably against people who've never played a moba before and most of this is only going to make sense if you play dota and/or league anyway but here goes:

1. taking towers/backdooring is stupidly easy, it only takes like 10 hits to down a single tower, and there are only 2 towers you need to take before getting to their nexus. this means you can win within 2-5 minutes with certain characters. there is NO way to counter this, as there are no TP scrolls, no characters with TP, no BD protection, no vision on enemy units until they reach your tower (assuming your enemies are even looking at their minimap), nothing.

2. huge amounts of character imbalance:

The God Tier
fionna: imagine riven (3 blinks on a 6 second CD) and tryndamere (cannot die for 6 seconds), combined, with an attack speed steroid and increased strength at low hp, AND huge amounts of health regen. basically you can backdoor towers without any threat of death (esp because there's no BD protection or TP)
lich: 2 stronk
gumball knight: garen/fiora ripoff, 2 stronk
jake the dog: basically amumu, 2 tank, 2 damage

Everyone Else
gunther the penguin: this dude is like queen of pain, except shit. his ult stuns him for 3 seconds and it doesn't even do much damage
ice king: his stun doesn't actually stun things lol
finn the human: this dude is ok
princess bubblegum: heimerdinger
lumpy space princess: such trash
marceline: is ok

3. points are not well balanced. minions waves are only worth SIX points, while doing a jungle camp (takes a similar amount of time) are worth TWENTY. There's no reason to stick around the lane unless you're organizing a push?

So anyway my strat is to sit in the jungle for a while (more exp growth than lane), clear out all the objectives, kill all the dudes (noone in this game knows how to aim or prioritize targets), get some levels, and then go rush the towers. And that's it.
