grafx2 is pretty baller once you get use to the interface I like it's palette editing for making quick color ramps also the tools and brushes are pretty sweet for larger pieces

yea definitely need to spend time with it though as with any program, was pretty turned off at first but there are a lot of gems packed in there. like tile instancing, drawing on one tile replicating the results on all other similar tiles. using parts of the image to create quick texture brushes, that you can rotate/flip with xyz.
a lot of the interface you need to access with right click on buttons. would like a search option in the shortcut menu.

Promotion and GraphicsGale also have their strengths. Happily I'm young enough that grafx2 doesn't hold any value nostalgic or otherwise for me; I use photoshop for all my static pixel art and gale for animation, looking to see if promotion can compliment my workflow at all.
Have heard some good things about some web pixel apps but can't remember their names at the moment...

Any good animation options for Mac? It seems Gale is Win only.

pixenpyxeleditmac yeah i don't create animations, so i don't know how good they are at that, but it seems like pyxel edit has more animation options.

I'm not an art guy by any stretch, but I tried to make the main character for my game. It turned out... okay I guess. She's supposed to be some sort of futuristic space cadet.

I am making a minimal platformer and this is what I made( main character ). The grey color in helmet is transparent. The rectanglish little thing at the back is the rocket. Also the character is 2x scaled Well! how can i make it look good? game theme is dark, the platforms are mostly gonna be black rectangles.

I'm using it on Linux, GraphicsGale works just fine on Wine.
