Dev Video Update #2
Where we (Alice and Chad) have recorded a video to summarize the updates in our game:




In the video we mention:
  • Title Screen
  • New Art and Location
  • Noisy Sounds

Underground Root Stage
New area - the underground root stage, including an arena, multiple tree caves, as well as various forest scenes.


Gruesome Foreground Animations
We have plants that sway in the foreground, crawling ants, and now a crow gnawing on a head.

Alice and Chad play through stage 10, so you can get a better feel of the game here!





The Crow now has the laser weapon, which can pass through multiple enemies. This feature would make it the most powerful weapon in the game, so in order to balance it, we had to make it short. As you gain level ups, the laser will grow in length.


We have keyboard and mouse controls in place.

We've added a lot of stuff since my last post. We currently have 3 upgrade levels in the game with 4 different weapons (balancing nightmare!). We are planning to add a 4th upgrade across all the weapons in the future.

New weapons and enemies





Sine weapon - it looks better in action, which we should have some time in the future.


Eyeball enemy shoots 3 ways. A friend said it is a "flying olive".


Shield - this protects you from three hits before disappearing. Some enemies hit super hard, so this shield will be very helpful.

Tropical Concept art. This represents sunset stage - the game starts off at dawn and cycles through the day until nighttime.


Desert Concept art for transitioning into the inside of the cave.

Music - Something Wicked



Featuring camera shutters and other mechanical sounds. This is supposed to be pretty but creepy.

BONUS PIC!
We were experimenting with ricocheting bullets and got carried away.... In the end we nixed ricochet because it sounds great in theory, but is really hard to hit anything.

@SolS - Thank you! Our game has an added layer of difficulty because the rag-dolling dead bodies block bullets (both crow and bad guys). So each weapon has pros/cons to it. When I play I switch between the weapons depending on the enemies faced, for example.

Here's a quick update - our game is set to be released October 19, 2016!



Also, we have the amazing and talented Laura Shigihara (Plants vs Zombies composer/singer, voice of Singing Sunflower pet in World of Warcraft, composer/lyricist/singer of Everything's Alright for To The Moon) who will be creating and ending song for our game.
