ok so apparently ocarina of time 2d is still a thing. and it even has a playable demo! holy shit! i was a member of the zelda fangame central (zfgc) forums in the mid 00s where OOT2D had its "home base" at the time. there were actually multiple parallel OOT2D projects, most of which never got very far beyond a walking demo (as did most other gams on the forum iirc), so someone making something that is actually semi-complete and playable was kind of a holy grail there haha. i guess the people making this new OOT2D have some kind of zfgc background (not looked into it), but it's probably not the original OOT2D guy. anyway, this is how i got my start in the "gamedev scene" or watever so this is all pretty nostalgic for me. good times!

well that's a healthy top 10 (most curated game on steam) I thought that was a pretty neat Gama article too. I think the two parts that's best about that graph is only one of those is a Valve game, and it represents a pretty broad swath of genres and styles.

idk about that, so i guess it wasnt during my time there. there wasnt actually that much drama, just people endlessly teasing cool looking mockups of zelda fangames and almost never delivering haha.

I'm pretty sure it's a different person. http://www.destructoid.com/r-i-p-2d-ocarina-of-time-update-3-31-07--30585.phtmlThe guy who faked his death had his website taken down and evidently never put it back up, though it seems you can still access some of his old files.

Hey euros, do you celebrate halloween? It's not really celebrated here in Finland, there are some parties and stores sell some halloween stuff, but no trick or treating. Except last year some group of kids did that, it was weird.

im pretty sure he was also a zfgc member and i actually faintly remember him (i think), but this fake death thing was after my time. but yes, this new oot2d is probably by different people. its hard to tell because like i said, there were sometimes 3 or 4 oot2d projects going at the same time. i think the one that got the furthest during my zfgc years was a demake in the style of link's awakening that had everything up to and including the deku tree dungeon.

trick or treating is kinda becoming a thing here in austria. for the last 3 years ive always had at least 1 group of kids knock on my door but otherwise yeah, it's just an excuse for partying and for the candy industry to cash in

We kinda do since the late 90s as far as I can tell/remember. I went trick or treating first and only time when I was 12 and a lot of older people didn't get what the heck was going on. Like it's not a huge thing but you'll see themed candies and commercials and people here and there have a carved pumpkin out and people will throw a party because it's an excuse to party and dress up I guess. It bothered people that it coincided with the old hallows eve so it was moved idk

Love the costume aspect... and the spooky part... hate the door to door begging..eeerrrr sorry trick or treating,
I'd much rather celebrate with friends and family and do the whole haunted house thing, and make the effort with costumes, spooky cocktails and snacks etc. Cause it's fun.. I don't get the whole lets go round peoples houses and if they're not in toilet paper their house or egg them etc... Maybe it's cause I didnt grow up with it, but it feels forced and an excuse for candy companies to sell more shit to people...
