This looks pretty amazing. It has a classic Megaman-y feel to it. I'm also in love with the plot; Hopefully there'll be some form of comedy to back it up. =D

If I may say something: Unless it's a real thunderstorm, perhaps you might want to tone down the lateral movement of the waves, i.e. make them scroll more slowly. At the moment, these waves are looking like they should violently rock the boat and drag it to the right. And depending on how the layers of waves are structured, a parallax effect would look absolutely great! Perhaps you could combine both of the above and instead of having the waves sroll consistently to one side, just have them move smoothly from left to right and back? Anyway, this looks awe-inspiring, and I'd be happy to play the finished version. (Unneccessary addendum: I think I found your submarine's daddy... )

Nice turrican2 pic! hehe. That was a great game.

I'm so glad you are re-working this game. The visual evolution is really well done.
Haaaah. I'd like to be able to achieve such a cute & sharp look with a 3D engine :')

Mini update: one of the power-ups in the game lets you call in two air-dropped outrigger diver kitties. These chaps have BIG guns and act as temporary support fire. The 1st version was a wee bit too tiny to read when moving about fast (even though it was more in scale with the sub). So it got scaled up a while back and given a slightly different paint job.

Personally, I prefer the grey armor to the orange armor, sort of blends in with the cat too much.

Doh - yes ginger cats in orange suits isn't ideal is it, sometimes its hard to spot this kinda thing when you've been looking at it too long. I'll try out some variations this weekend. I was avoiding grey because the miner kittens are in light grey suits, but you are right the support ones totally need a tweaky.

Try dark red with a grey... piping, I guess you would call it. Know what I mean? Maybe that would be too Space Marine or something.
