Howdy, good folk of TIGSource.
I think it's safe to say Devlogs are the greatest asset of this wonderful community. Over the years we've seen the birth and successful releases of such wonderful games as
Minecraft,
Fez &
Papers, Please among many others. Devlogs are great sources of information and tips for fellow game developers as well as streams of updates for fans and a place for support and encouragement. Every year thousands of Devlogs get posted and updated with update rates varying from monthly to weekly posts.
Amongst such a great number of posts it's easy to miss out on pure gems and other hella interesting projects.
To celebrate all of this awesomeness it's time for the second annual best Devlog of the year poll.
Last year, even with minimal heads-up, we gathered over 90 votes. Last years winner
Project Rain World is still going strong with awesome updates every week. This year hopefully we will at least double the votes and number of nominees alike.
Devlogs come in many shapes and sizes so to make things clearer I've decided to run this in two categories this year.
1) Best DevLogThis is a project best showcasing the power of Devlog- constant informative updates with technical and design insight, screenshots, maybe even an occasional prototype to try out. Highlight the best specimen!
2) Favourite DevLog projectThis is simply a game (or games) listed in this forum you like the best. Be it your favourite upcoming game or something you reckon hasn't gotten enough attention as it deserves. Dig up those gems!
Rules:- You can vote in both categories for as many games as you like, just make sure to specify in which category you're casting your vote.
- For both categories the Devlog must have seen at least one update from the author in 2014.
Posting example (adding links to projects is recommended especially when it's a hidden gem):
1) Best Devlog
Some Awesome Game
2) Favourite project
Some Hidden Gem
Post your favourites right here in this topic, or if you want to be really
-really-really secretive about your vote, PM me.
Happy digging and let the voting commence!
edit:
I would like to make things a bit more special this year and have little prizes for winners and also something for the voters. A lottery sort of thing. If you have a copy or two of your game you wouldn't mind giving out, please PM me. I could gift a couple of games on Steam or GOG. Wouldn't mind giving out a few Steam Gift Card but sadly that's a US-only thing. GOG doesn't even have that I think. But if you have any other prize ideas, let me know.
