Not pointless at all, I like the atmosphere of this.

cool as heck.

that flat yet expansive starry area makes me think of an amusement park. like It's A Small World and all the places that try to appear like huge spaces by hiding what you can see in darkness.

it's a very interesting effect.

The more I think about that idea the more I like it. When you get bored with your knight game I am stealing the sprites Tongue

The idea is a shmup but your vertical movement is limited to the four rails
There is a classic shmup called Beamrider that is limited to five rails, although they are horizontal.

It's definitely worth checking out because I think it's well designed, and there are some considerations to take into account when designing a game with extremely limited movement.

Make a shooter where you have to shoot parts of a horizontally scrolling piece of a DNA helix and change the structure of the DNA with each shot! Then the DNA becomes the enemies for the next level based on what you decided to shoot stuff with in the previous helix! Cheesy
