Hey, just wanted to say that I really like the light-hearted style of this game. I find the main character quite iconic and it's difficult to not feel a bit better about life when you see him.
"Gummi-ghouls", that's a great name. Looking forward to seeing their animations.

Looking great! And super cool idea on those platform enemies...
Only issue I can see with these designs is everything is so cute, will be hard to tell whats a good powerup vs. an enemy. E.g. I'd totally try and pickup a flying sodapop with sunglasses...

that's a good point Jon - I really like the idea of defeating enemies that look cute & harmless... goes back to the rabbites & Mushbooms from Secret of Mana. Even as a kid playing those I always laughed at the idea of mercilessly killing these cute things. I found some sweet fanart! by SrPelothis just made my day!

ah shit i misread your post because im a dink
yes - i've since realized that a soda can could be mistaken for a pickup item which is not ideal
right now he's just an on-rails enemy but we're changing him to behave more like a sine wave flyer.
so hopefully if you see something flying towards your cloudface you'll know it's not safe ;]

On the other hand, it could be funny to introduce the flying can early in a level and make the confusion part of the game. If a player tries to pick it up and die, they restart with barely any time lost and they get to crack a joke to their youtube channel about "Soda isn't good for you" which will be a lot funnier than the "jokes" they're usually making.
You're doing a service to potential players and viewers, when you think about it.
Either way this is probably pretty easy to address with a little playtesting.

Yeah you slap some nice particles behind a pick-up vs. a soda can flying at your face and I'm the player can deduce a pick-up vs. an enemy (regardless of their level of cute). I may just be getting that vibe from looking at static images of the enemies...

haha, well, the sodapops aren't animated yet so i think when they are that will help a lot to distinguish between pickup or foe

progress is (progressing) on adding new enemy types. the challenge is that Cloudface is very 'powerful' with his horizontal movement (hovering) coming up with enemies that take advantage of this is the key ( ) we'll see. we put in the Umbrelladillo (little orange cube for now) CF turning into a pink cube is him charging up for a big jump

Hey this game has a toaster AND an hair dryer. Usually, games with those types of enemies are pretty damn awesome.

Hah, this looks really good and convenient. I'm embarassed of my crude editor. If I mess up when creating the platform all I can do is click a reset button and try again

What are these white nodes called? At the moment, i'm using the PolygonCollider2D points to create a mesh, but i have no idea how to wrap a texture like the grass around it.

Sort of. It's made of polygons just so I can have a texture on it, but it uses a 2D collider.
