The first half of El Topo had a cool vibe to it but the second one was too much, I guess I'm too dense to make anything out of the movie as a whole.

When you can watch and understand El Topo, you will have reached enlightenment.

When you can watch and understand El Topo, you will have reached enlightenment. It's either enlightenment or a tumour.

It's a cool way to see what the hipster culture looked like in the 70s.

My Best Fiend (1999, Director: Werner Herzog) In the 1950s, when Werner Herzog was 13, he was sharing an apartment with Klaus Kinski, an ego-maniacal live-wire. In an unabated, 48 hour fit of rage, Kinski destroyed every piece of furniture in sight. From this chaos, a beautiful albeit volatile partnership was born. http://documentarystorm.com/my-best-fiend/

I suddenly feel like I wish that I could have a true blue American childhood like they show in the movies, even though I know that's not at all what most people's lives are like. Anyone recommend a good coming of age movie, or good teen movie, something like that?

Anything goes? If so, then here are 10 titles I guess: Stand by Me (1986) Dazed and Confused (1993) The Breakfast Club (1985) Say Anything… (1989) The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) Superbad (2007) Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) Adventureland (2009) Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) The Spectacular Now (2013)

I recently saw The Wind Rises; it was one of the most powerful animated pictures I've seen in a while; beautifully animated and moving throughout. I've heard people criticize it for veering off into petty sentimentality here and there, but I don't think that was a major problem with it. At any rate, I think it got snubbed hard at the Oscars (but that's a given, since the Academy doesn't really understand animation).

Well anime can't win anymore , it's shameful to love anime and japan it seems. so people prefer to vote for anything thing than that.

Wreck-It Ralph Some pretty creative visuals but the story is as bland as ever.
Vtáčkovia, siroty a blázni [Birds, Orphans and Fools] I don't know what this is all about but I'm liking it.
Slaughtered Vomit Dolls I expected hilarious goodbad but all I got was unwatchabad.
ムーミン谷の彗星 [Comet in Moominland] I love the Moomin-books and this does a mostly fine job of capturing that.
Možnosti dialogu [Dimensions of Dialogue] Jan Svankmajer does it again!
Flora Jan Svankmajer doesn't do it again! It's technically impressive but there's little point to it.
Kill la Kill First episode is refreshingly crazy but then the second episode feel kinda lika the same thing. And the third. And the fourth. The fan service is egregious.
Krótki film o miłości [A Short Film About Love] I honestly like this more than A Short Film About Killing.
La double vie de Véronique [The Double Life of Veronique] The lighting is interesting. Like Őszi almanach except it actually works.
Threads I felt like rewatching this for some reason. Maybe I thought my life just wasn't miserable enough.
Juvenile Court An incredibly exhausting watch. Frederick Wiseman is king.

I have just watched Moonrise Kingdom. Love Wes Anderson's style, overflowing with details.
