just finished this
I kinda wonder, if I may, when you create stuff like this, do you draw it on 'paper' (traditional or otherwise) first or do you go straight-to-pixel when inspiration hits?
Sorry if this has been answered before, I'm just curious.
I really like how accurate the skeleton looks, it's amazing. I do feel that the contrast between the 2 lighest shades is a bit subtle compared to the rest of the pallet, but perhaps this was intentional to avoid making certain parts too busy?
Actually, I most often don't, but for something that pops into my head that might be a bit complicated to wing it on, I sketch out in pencil while doodling just so I can see what it should look like physically instead of just a foggy thought. Here's this one:
And yeah, the lighter colors aren't meant to be very contrasting, I wanted to give sort of a spotlight effect on top of it and to avoid being too busy, and limiting the colors and all that.
@Gonza565, nice church! The colors make it look like it's in some thick fog or something. Really well done, I like the dirtyness on that large flat inner wall on the right side.
@Shellbot, is that an otter? What ever it is I really like the colors used.
@Derek, Nice! I could see these being character select portraits in a River City Ransom-style TMNT game. A bunch of these have one too many colors to be nes sprites, though I think? I think April's face seems a bit off to me though, something making it not as readable as the others?
