Thanks for the good response! The game resolves around your spear weapon. You can either stab with it or throw it. Stabbing will wear out a spear over time, where as throwing a spear will use it up at once. Not only does throwing your spear give you a benefit in combat, but it also allows you to hit spaces that would be out of your reach.

This looks quite interesting with the wire-like grooves connecting buttons to things (assuming I'm interpreting the graphics correctly).
However, a quibble comes to mind: the brick-like floor detail on the latest screenshot draw the eye more than the player's character. The path in your first screenshot works better because it's not using the darkest shade, lowering its contrast. (You could also try using the lightest shade on the player, to make sure he pops out as much as possible.)
I'm curious what happens when you break/throw your spear - will you just have to run away from enemies until you find a new one?

Looking nifty so far. Same engine as Space Captain?

Essentially. You can get more spears by finding them. The game resolves around conserving your spears. I might play around with the mechanics a bit (possibly remove spears taking damage from melee attacks, possibly making it so you can recover thrown spears, ect...) to see what works best. Looking nifty so far. Same engine as Space Captain?
Yep. (The earlier screenshots were cropped to hide the very not-GB palette HUD left over from Tales of the Renegade Sector)

The game's coming together. I'm about 80% done with the level design. I've still got to do the final boss and final cutscene, and, of course, polish and extras.

This is getting pretty close to being complete. After that, I'm going to try to get a flash sponsorship for it.
Made the final boss today, and also started working on the end scene. All the level design is done, but I've still got to put in some power-ups and add in some missing sounds.

Congrats on finishing. I played all the way through and really enjoyed it. The music was spot on. I don't have to many followers but I'll be sure to give this a mention on twitter.

I got stuck - was pushing up and right against a wall as I exited through a doorway on the right side of a room, then on the next screen I seem to be stuck on the wall: I know I can restart, but it might be something to look into fixing if possible.
