Nice animation, but real fish don't usually float like that...
Yeah, the more I look at it, the more it unsettlingly feels like the fish are dead. But good animation and pixel art, yeah! @Vaasm - Those are pretty cool. I like how you controlled the AA on the eyeball guys so you didn't just end up with pillow-shading. I think the two humans' "hair pieces" are too thin toward the right, but that looks pretty good nonetheless.

@Zanhuf - Not sure what you're talking about! Those characters are a lot better, and those animations are nice and smooth, while also being detailed.
Thanks for the comment! I am still trying to improve, but i fear i've hit a dead end for the time being.

cell I've been enjoying this series. this is The Dan Fessler technique (softer brushes + posterize + gradient map + a low opacity grid for dither), right? Or are you achieving some of these results in a different way?
no soft brushes, hard pencil brush with opacity, then gradient maps a plenty.

There's something appealing to how much more vibrant the colors in the left shots are. I do think the poses have improved drastically. I just don't think attention to detail and lack of outlines should alter the expressiveness. It feels like the left art has more of an attitude.

although I disagree about the colors, I feel you can just mess with photoshop curves to bring the brights back up. overall the right side is looking nice!

i mean i guess i understand the issue with the palettes because there's definitely a different feel to the left side but i dont think anything's really lost so much as the right side is just Something Different

splosion animated with 24 fps Getting a real Metal Slug vibe from this. I tried to animate an idle motion that transitions into an attack (idle motion inspired by SolarLune's avatar), making it smoother and trying to make the legs look less stupid/wrong. Also played around with the shield and it's perspective.
