Legend of the KnightwasherDid your history lessons ever talk about the war in the kingdom of the washing machines? Did they ever mention the fierce battle between the throne usurpers and the old loyalists? Did they tell the tale of the greatest of the heroes of that time? Did they tell the Legend of the Knightwasher? Probably not. Let me fix it! Website Detocroix.comTwitter @Detocroix
Update 2012.08.18 Bunch of stuff changed, at least regarding to videos. All the candy is in. Weapons, inventory, axing wildly! Video 1: http://youtu.be/s9UPqIj-yJg?hd=1
Video 2: http://youtu.be/6B3EzgDYx2c?hd=1
Update 2012.08.04 hires: http://i.imgur.com/Mc44k.jpgJousting! Arenas! Civilians!
Added 2012.07.14 Might be a good idea to check the high resolution image behind the link below the tiny one. I don't want to break the forum formatting, so the pics are scaled tiny. http://i.imgur.com/lpCN3.jpghires: http://i.imgur.com/X1wTg.jpgLots have changed, but not massive in terms of visual looks. Slightly spoilerish (I guess) map layouting http://i.imgur.com/IRJlP.jpg, that's about half of the first zone. Yeah there's almost the same curve twice with the shoreline, oops :D I have to get someone to check my writings at some point in the future. Doesn't matter much now, but I want to get rid of all the ridiculous writing habits I accidentally put in.
Added 2012.07.06 http://i.imgur.com/lMzpL.jpgLink to bigger image on IndieDBThree background tests; First is with dark background (definitely my personal preference as it pops the tile out nicely, but adds more detail and visual love everywhere else), Second is with Bright background and Third is the old original one with just solid black there.
Added 2012.06.30 http://i.imgur.com/m1Vgo.pnghttp://youtu.be/gxNV-ShDNEQ?hd=1First set of sounds in game, most of them are still under edit or re-tuning so they're a subject to change, but I don't want to wait any longer before putting out updates! I'll talk more about the sounds later (or next week) once I'm sure I can tell about my sound source (I was too stupid to ask earlier when he wasn't busy, duh )
Also I've finally managed to move away from unity terrain for grass (I had tiny terrains under each tile to support it *cough*) and now I can really start making more tiles, and large portion of basic gameplay stuff is in... so let the adventure commence!

This looks really cool! Though little knights would be even cooler.

Oh but it wouldn't be near as sweet because "little knights" (I presume humans) would be a boring norm and beastly things feared by the washing machines

More games should have bat-shit-crazy premises such as this. Gone are the days when Miner Willy would get chased around a room by a killer toilet. I approve of these tilting washing machines.
I just typed tilt into google to check that the jousting meaning of tilt was spelt the same as the usual meaning and for a moment thought my screen was borked before I realised google was tilting the page.

Oh yes! Indeed I am. Python is brilliant (and clever), definitely the best comedy crew in this world

This week my design princible has been "dung beetles". It's not quite as visible anymore as it was first, because now the beet-.. washing machines.. actually get back on their feet. Also now with death, and hordes of be-... banditwashers!

I saw this on reddit. Looking really cool dude.
The graphics are pretty darn amazing.
Are you planning to have any sort of RPG/skill systems in this?

Thank you Not initially. My "plan A" is arena based action against various enemy types and bosses and some gear upgrading (or simple unlocks). My "plan B" is story driven adventure. The big plan for plan B is actually allowing player to move from tile to tile and explore.

Awesome premise, awesome graphics, and (what seems to be) awesome physics. You could always shoot for an arena fighter with an emphasis on narrative, and stuff in some exploration elements, like Plan A with some Plan B sprinkled in... Any chance you could explain your early game-design plans alittle more?

That is actually very nice idea, I'll have to explore it once I'm done with the "basics" of arena combat As for "explaining" my early design plans, I try to move in stages. I know I can take this far, but I don't want to lock any certain path, so my Plan A comes first. Then I'll decide how to expand upon it

New screenshot set with a little bit of interaction! Mouse cursor is used to manipulate things, but I don't have anything nice set as a cursor, so yeah it's hidden for now. I'll make a new video, proper video, when I get some sounds

"Prepare for the tumbling of your life!" (hint) put that line in the game.
Awesome game, I love the combat's dynamic feel. Thanks for posting!

Box quote <3 Excellent Damn this looks great, how does the combat work?
Mouse aimed (direction), keyboard controlled moving (machine relative) and loads of physics. Still requires a lot of testing and tweaking to find the sweetest spot.

Haha, hilarious concept. Although I think the majority of players would prefer playing as a human or at least human-like character. I personally feel that ideas like this are hilarious for the first few hours, then they tend to decline unless you're being constantly bombarded by more absurdness.. "He used to be just a washed out old knight" "His name was, Sir. Laundry Washington" Also, what about using laundry symbols. Perhaps as heraldic icons or special abilities.
