So I recently realized I don't actually need to have a 'floor' in one world; wondering if there's a way I could possible use this for puzzles somehow. that looks like a really neat game mechanic

I really like that, Cow, it is so simplistic (not in a bad way) but very atmospheric. It has a wholesome feel to it, for lack of better wording. Keep up the good work!

Thanks man! It's fun/challenging to try to strike a balance between readability and detail at this sprite size. Even the games I looked at for inspiration (Star Ocean Blue Sphere and Cave Noire) both use 16x16 for cells and characters, so I had to improvise a bit.
