Hi chaps, this is my first time posting but I'd like to share what we're doing and maybe get some feedback along the way Smiley

Title: Kaiju Panic
Platforms: Win/Mac/XBox One/possibly others
Engine: Unity3D
Genre: Tower Defence/Real Time Strategy

Description:
Soon after a massive meteor impacts the Earth giant monsters rampage across the globe attacking major cities and causing panic in the streets. It's your job to defend the world's populace and infrastructure. Build turrets and defences and rescue scientists to help develop new weapons and deploy calming measures such as "Keep Calm And Carry On" mugs.

The game will have an over world map where you can select missions to tackle as they arise. Here you will also be able put your scientists to work on various research topics.

In the defence phase of the game you will have to harvest resources and build defences around cities, famous landmarks, critical buildings and your command facility.

A little about us:
We are a UK based development studio, I founded Mechabit recently but we've been developing games for years at various companies.

ID cards:
When you rescue a NPC you will unlock their ID cards which you can view in-game.
We are also planning to let you help us create some NPCs for the game and support us at the same time by buying a higher tier package from the Humble Store.


We are thinking something along the lines of $10 pre-purchase with alpha build (increased to $20 on release) and $100 for making your own NPC

I'll add a poll or something to collect some feedback on that or just comment here.

Should we take this game to greenlight?
Does anyone know how many votes it takes to get onto steam?
We'll likely sell the game on our own site first either way and then offer steam keys through humble widget should we get green lit.

I don't know. Heart&Slash is currently struggling big time there. My bad, since I suck at marketing... When you put it there, be ready for a big marketing push.

You need around 8-10k votes to get onto the top 100 (I think they select from those).

Edit: What I'm trying to say is that now I am realizing how important is to build up before taking any of these steps (Greenlight or KS). For Greenlight you need to reach around 9k people in about a month. Or assume you are going to be put in the queue of those making few votes a day and slowly accumulating. But with the service going out soon, that's not an option.

We got 1k votes on the first day. 750 on the second. 500 on the third and then it's like a hundred or two each day. The first votes are easy, but after that you'll need a mechanism to funnel votes in (a pre built community that can reach 5-6k strong with outreach).

Not long to go till Rezzed.  Shocked

We've made some rather major changes to the core mechanics to be more people focused. Bit risky in the time we've got left before being put in front of a paying public but that's just how we roll!  Cool

I'll post up some new screens/vids closer to Rezzed.

We'll also have some film makers with us to record a bit of the show for people who can't attend and also get some reactions from punters.

Anyone going?
