Credit goes to MikeDee for starting a thread about it (and I'm mostly just gonna help organize this Gentleman) and Derek for supplying title of awesome.

EDGE
a competition for
GAMES

Tim "slimy toad" Langdell. You probably heard about him, or maybe you didn't. If you didn't, SHAME ON YOU! Tim invented many things, like videogames, copyrights, and THE MOTHERFUCKING EDGE. He's so edgy you wouldn't believe it.

If you are one of those fools who do not know of his sheer ammounts of AWESOME, please read a bit of this thread, and BE ENLIGHTENED: EDGY

So, in order to commemorate yet another fight against the fools who would DARE challenge Tim "dipshit" Langdell's ALMIGHTY RULE over the word EDGE, we're holding a competition, so you too can bask in the glory of EDGE!

The rules are simple:

  • All entries must feature the HOLY WORD EDGE, or a similar word, like MARGIM and THRESHOLD and POINTY-PART-OF-THE-CUBE. This sacred collection of letters must always be enhanced somehow, either by bolding, coloring, or other assorted effects
  • The game must feature the likeness of the MAN himself, Tim "I even LOOK like a douchebag" Langdell. You may draw him, pixel him, vector him, 3D up his arse, or use one of these handy-dandy pictures:
(Awesome horn hat or the dude wearing it not mandatory.)
  • Your game must bring awareness to Tim's recent exploits in the world of stomping on developers for the moneys, BECAUSE HE CAN. How you do this glorious task is completely up to you. Artgames optional!

That's pretty much it. What you do based on that is up to you, but be wary. Tim "I'm a money-grubbing jackass" Langdell himself might see this eventually, so MAKE HIM PROUD.

THE DEADLINE: JUNE 21

Playable entries:

EDGECREMENT
EDGE OF BULLSHIT: RISE TO THE BOARD
Edge: The Game
Edge Tycoon
Hypotenuse: The Longest Edge
The EDGE of Lawsuits
THE EDGY EDGE
The Ledge's Edge
The Story of Tim Douchebag
Tim Langdell: EDGE Attorney

In development:

Edge Hop

Cancelled:

Edge Biz
The Trademark's Edge

Disclaimer: This is all meant as a big parody, any assholes who try to cause trouble about it automagically fail at existence and are not indie.

Now go, and remember: STAY EDGY

A whole month? That's enough time to design and produce over 180 games!

Is this for real ? I'm into any contest, no matter the topic, but ...
Hey Tiger

I like the idea, anyway. I just expected some official annoucement !

Edit   : Oh, sorry, it reads "Unofficial" Smiley
Hehe. 2weeks sounds good.

Edit#2 : 'Found my idea ! I'm In.
Should be smthing like a *Douchebag exploration game*, inside a mini-sub, find your way until you reach the massive stone head of Tim Landgell.
Gotta find the name, now.

I'm happy with that deadline because I'm busy until halfway through this month.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I'm totally going to try to participate. I was thinking of trying to make a game that would have had EDGE in the title anyways (I haven't started it though).

New rule added. This one is meant to be a 'do it as you see fit' one. Be creative!

I have ultimately decided to do the compo in only 2 weeks. The reason for that being that B-Games II is coming soon and I don't want people to be burned out or divided about it when it comes, and official compos should have the spotlight. And this isn't the kind of compo to make a hugely ambitious game anyway. Tongue

I'm also thinking if this should be a rule to all unnoficial compos. Probably not necessary.

1:1 "The almighty was made, and he proclaimed that more shall be made; he shall own all he makes, and all his creations make will thus be his."

1:2 "The almighty declares that light shall be made, and thus light is his. He creates land, and thus land was his, and since he created the beginnings of all, he owned the center. He created a sky, and thus sky was his."

1:3 "The almighty laid down upon the land ends, and declared them to be edges. And thus edge was his. "

1:4 "The almighty created the life, and thus life was his. He created some in his own image, and thus his image was his. He created the other life from his mind, and thus they were his."

1:5 "The almighty declared a word, and his creations learned the language, and thus all words were his. His creations made names, and thus those names were his. They made a name for him, which was also his."

1:6 "The almighty questioned what his newly-owned name was, and the creations declared it was Tim Langdell."
