Crabventure is a very simple item-based adventure game in a similar vein to the old 'Dizzy' games. You guide the crab to take items back and forth and solve puzzles. In general this is a heavily streamlined and simple adventure game. These screenshots are very much sketches with placeholder art and text (especially that snail). Right now I'm just doing art and design, and then I'll be doing the coding later on. It's really fun to be working this way.

Sweetness -- I played a dizzy game once and thought it was awesome. More games like it are very welcome in my book.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! ^_^ Here is one of my notebook pages. I have a bunch of these, and I've been drawing out lots of environments and figuring out item puzzles. It's starting to come together fairly nicely at this stage. Did anyone outside of Europe play Dizzy, out of interest? People always refer to it as a very british thing.

I love how he looks slightly worried in the drawing where he's carrying the iron. I like the mole too. How about an item that protects us when we carry it, like a hard hat?
Perhaps the Dizzy games are a fairly local phenomenon. Personally, I hadn't heard of the Dizzy games until you started working on this project. They look pretty neat, though.

It was a gold console game, very shiny it made me behave on the bus. It kind of reminds me of the Pac-Man game that wasn't a pac-man game. You had to guide pac-man through pac-world. Anyways, I hope to see this game finished.

I've personally never played a Dizzy game- to be honest, it wasn't until I joined TIGSource that I found out about 'em. Internet- ain't it a beaut?

Make it happen. Placeholder art? It's great by any metric. Can you give us any details on the platform this game will be released on?

As usual, I love the art style! I was always a pretty big fan of Dizzy, too. Though, by today's standard, they weren't particularly good games; too many instant-death traps, and a horribly inefficient inventory system. Still, stupid design decisions like that are easy to avoid, and I'm confident you can make this enjoyable.
Give me a shout if you want a hand with the music, too (Even if it's just production advice/assistance)!

Yeah I'm in the US, played Dizzy on an NES Emulator, and it left me wanting more.
notebook pages look nice -- I especially like the "iron = heavy" crab. He looks so uneasy!

Beautiful! The dizzy games (on Spectrum) were part of my gaming youth, but could be quite evil at times. I think it was mostly due to the clumsy controls (IMO) and limited lives. So please don't replicate those aspects! (It does sound like you're taking inspiration from the good stuff though)

Yeah, I have zero interest in the many horrible design flaws in the Dizzy games, such as Treasure Island Dizzy where you can die completely in less than 2 seconds if you walk into the sea. My game will be much more fun and friendly, or at least that's my intention! will there be squids or octopuses? Octopus is confirmed! XD

I still remember the old Game Genie commercial which showed you beating Dizzy in 2 seconds using one of their cheats. Man, I sure had to get one then and there after seeing that.
On topic, I think the concept art is marvelous. I can imagine the walking sound now.
