I contributed some music, but yeah... these sprites have me considering contributing to the game dev section in Part II. These are cool and fun, and I like the low resolution presentation. Very well done.

Since you solicited for ideas in your text, here are mine:
I wonder if you'd want to animate the lava, acid, and water with another frame or two? Other things to try... a dragon? Any female-looking characters? Statue? Door open and closed?

Roguelikes need no animations in my opinion.

Roguelikes need no animations in my opinion.

Animation would still be nice though.  Although animations might be a little annoying in a traditional Roguelike game there's no reason why someone couldn't use these sprites to make a real-time RPG or adventure game that would benefit from them.

I think some items would be nice to have such as...

a sword,shield,spear,wand,etc.

also it'd be cool to have a couple different scrolls like you have potions so that they are differentiable just from the graphics.

Lastly maybe a health and money icon to be used next to the bars.  The chest could be used for money but if you have chests on the playing field as well I don't know if that would get weird.

I'll hit all the requests tonight and post an update, thanks for the suggestions. As far as animation I can definitely provide the simple environment ones (water, lava, etc) but animating all the sprites with full move/attack sets is out of scope for me with the time I have. If anyone wants to try, go for it Smiley I'll also try to do a few more environment sets for next update as well.

Doors would be absolutely fantastic, as would a properly dimensioned sprite sheet. Loving the look of these so far!

There is a door already, but I'll make an open one tonight, and a key! and a few other goodies. I'll be doing the sprite sheet last, it's a pain to work with no spacing between sprites.
