So, as a photographer who knows a thing or two about optics: does a small aperture lead to longer range?

Haha, I see what you mean, but not in this aspect Smiley The aperture is the output control from the core of Eo, bigger the aperture - more energy is released per shot.
THE BARREL is the thing that determines distance, noise, accuracy - you can make it act like an Uzi with a small barrel or a sniper Smiley

For example, lower the aperture diameter, and shorten the barrel, and you can shoot hundreds of wild bullets without overheating or using too much power!
Amp up the inputs, and crank up the Shell transformer, along with opening the aperture all the way and fully extending the barrel - shoots a MASSIVE CASCADING ENERGY BLAST-OF-AN-EXPLOSION!! But, Eo would need a long time to recover ~ leaving you defenceless!

And that's just a couple of examples Wink There will also be upgrades!

Sounds like a cool system, but perhaps a bit much to tweak in the heat of battle, how will you handle that?

Oh don't be like that Wink

You can still make the interface easier for it - for example letting the player set two presets easily (didn't the old Diablo games have something like that? Where you could quickly switch assigned skills to left/right mouse button. I haven't played that in ages)

I will never not feel a bit of frustration at games that use pixel-art but do not respect their own pixel grid.

I think the key is to make it a part of your game's art style rather than a crutch to lean on now and then(if that makes any sense). So far I don't think it sticks out in a bad way so I'd say you're well on the right track!

Also the game looks great thus far, very colorful setting in the last gif Smiley

I relate to your choice of removing outlines, as I'm used to NOT use them. But for the sake of readability, I may use outlines in my future project.
